Do you have a service manual? Visit you local Authorized Ski-Doo Dealership for advice and to purchase a service manual. Do you have any information on what model it is, ect.? On the right side of the sled above the runningboards, check out the plate with the year, cc siza, VIN, ect.

Is it an 83 year or does it say 83 on the tunnel? - that would mean it's an 84 model.
It's got a 462 - it could be an Everest liquid. Is the hood yellow or white? - It could be an 84 SS - that was the first year for the safari chassis and they stuffed a 462 liquid in them too.
A 462 liquid with 1 carb would make around 60hp Id say. With twin carbs they make close to 70hp.

That would be the 84 SS 25

The Everest had a 464 type, bros had an Everest LC,great on gas and nice power :)

The Safari chassis that had a LC engine was the 85-86 Safari Grand Luxe and had a type 537 LC( Plus engine with one carb)

The 84 SS 25/85 Formula SS/86 FormulaSS/85 Formula SP/86 Formula SP all had the basic Formula non prs chassis the SS' were Yellow and the SP were White and had outboard shocks

Well it must be a 84 ss/25, Also it has the single carb, how hard would it be to change that to a dual carb or would it be worth the hassal. Sorry i am new to this and don't know much about snowmobiles.

I know the sled is really no good anymore, but i am using the engine in a go kart chassi i have. Thanks for the info on the sled.

If I'm not mistaken the 462 cc motor in the MX was a Type 467. The 462 used in the SS & Safaris was not a 467.

How many acorn nuts on the head? I think the lo po motor used 8 while the hi po 462 & 521 motors used 12 (I think).

The other difference (not visible) is that the lo po 462 used 8 long studs to hold the cylinders & head to the case. While the other motor used 4 studs to hold each cylinder to the case, then the head was held onto the cylinders w/ 12 (I think) studs.

The single carb 462 was a type 464:)

That definitely isn't the Type 467 motor. I'll see if I can find the Type this weekend.

I don't know if the 470 used in '93 is a misprint or not. It seems strange that in '94 they went back to calling the motor a 467. Maybe because there might have been 2 different calibrations due to being used in the PRS & F chassis sleds they called it a 470 in the new F chassis. I know the '94 MXs had 470 on the hood to muddy the waters even more.
