Gearing down...???

Hey all, I wanna gear down my 97 Indy 500 for more get up and go. My question is this, I'm currently running 21-39, is it ok to drop to teeth on the top sprocket? Would I have to change the bottom sprocket too? Also would this affect my clutch at all or would I be ok to leave that as it is???

Any help would be appreciated!

I meant to say two teeth, I'm sure that's obvious.

You should be able to go to a 19/39 and still retain the same chain. You will lose about 9 mph on the top end, but the acceleration will be a lot better. If your clutching is set up properly, it should be fine.

Perfect!! My clutch is set up to factory spec I do believe. I don't mind losing on the top end as its not a speed demon anyhow.

Thanks BC!
