i have a 04 mxz rev 600sdi and have been having a problem with it the past few times i've ridden it. its only has about 50 miles on it now but, when i first start it up it doesn't want to stay at idle. its slowly just shuts off. i can keep it going if i rev it a little. if i try and ride it, its like somethings holding the sled back , it wont go above 40 even at full throttle. then all of the sudden it will run and act fine like someone flipped a switch. its only acted like this twice but what do u think i should do?

up the idle to 16-1800.

IF WE GIVE ALL THE PROFIT TO THE IMPORTS WHAT WILL BE LEFT?

make sure the tether is snapped on good. It shouldn't go over 3000rpm if it isn't connected but if its losing contact here and there it could cause you problems. The lights on the sled would light up too though. If it only has 50 miles on it, take it to the dealer.

That's the cord attached to the ignition cap that needs to be on there good but that can't be your problem because it limits your rpms to 3000 and your clutch wouldn't even engage. Your problem is because you haven't burned out the computer chip in the MPEM that retards your timing for the first 300 miles and has a richer fuel map (= wet fouled plugs and poor idle). So keep a pocketful of fresh plugs in your pocket until 300 miles and just deal with it.

Cheers,

G MAN

Perhaps the dealer threw extra oil in the gas for break-in and it's loading it up? I know there not suppose to, just a thought. Don't think I'd be playing with the idle at only 50 miles.

Just another thought, and not trying to be smart here, but if you are new to sledding then it would be wise to spend some time in your owners manual so you understand the basics of your sled. The dealer should have walked you through the basics, and you should definitely have been told about the DESS and the tether.

I've read my owners manual like 3 times just to know where everything is on my new sled. When I got it, I read the manual before I went for a ride. I made the Mrs. read hers before she rode. I got the basic info. out of it and found so much more here at SW. The best advise in the manual is suspension set-up, belt p/n, spark plug pre-gapped over priced frikin plugs(sorry). Oh, and I had to look at it again to find where I put my spare plugs.
