I have purchased a 2005 Ski Doo 800 HO Renegade and it is breaking down at the 5000 RPM mark. This happens when accelerating through 5000 and decelerating down through 5000 RPM as well as when you try and hold the 5000 RPM's.

The dealer looked at it said that there was nothing he could do as Ski-doo was having this problem with all DPM machines. I find this impossible to believe and it is not a slight variation, the cut out is very annoying and if you hold 5000 RPM it will actually jerk you back and forth quite regularly.

Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone have an 800 HO with DPM and are you experiencing the same?

Any info is appreciated.

Could it be the break in chip? 1st time I've heard of this though.

I am at about 230 miles now and I would think over 8- 10 hours just with the type of riding I have been doing, any idea when the break in period is complete?

search on dootalk for this i think i remember somethink about this . I think they were changing pilot jets from 17.5 to 20. Try searching over there, I think you will find something about it.

Does that mean it will go away after the break in period or it is a characteristic of the machine for good?

It's just a guess on why it's doing it. I personally have not had or heard of it cutting out but the break in chip can do wierd things. Makes it run rich, retards the timing. If it doesn't go away after 300 miles, have it fixed buy your dealer. Should be all warranty work. I'd be buzzing around the yard or trails to get beyond the 300 mile mark and see what it does.
