1969 Era Ski Doo + Moto Ski Photos

If ya like older Ski Doos, and/or Moto Skis, I've got some old photos of some from the winter of 1968-69, that I just put on this web site. I used to live at Katahdin Lodge and Camps in Moro Plantation, Aroostook County, Maine, but our post office was down in Patten, Maine.

I have some stories about them days in 1968-69 Northern Maine written out, and they are on Magic City News from Millinocket, Maine.

I have photos and, wild and crazy, facts about my times as a Maine bear hunting guide and country girls' delight on a blog of mine--Northern Maine Adventures.

Thanks for checking out the photos. Did you notice how rusty and rough some of the sleds looked? People just could not afford all the nicer, newer sleds like I see in the photos on this forum and on some Maine web sites today. The older style sleds had some clunky looks to them. And when you compare the front suspensions of the old and new you can really see how well sleds have advanced.

I thought they looked fantastic and lot's of history with them.

It's really neat to see some of the air you got too..lol I really enjoy looking at them.

Yes, some of the milage days we put on the newer sleds of today would probably break my back in half on one of those, but who know's what we might say about today's sleds in 20 years from now.

Bubble noses

Bubble noses. That's a cool nickname for them.

Now. I have a challenge to make. I am figuring that I have the best set of vintage snowmobile photos there is. But they could look much better with digital help.

I have seen some great shots on the WWW of rebuilt vintage sleds at different events. But can't find any action shots. I was a budding photographer when I made those old 1969 sleddin shots. And I wanna know.

Is there anything like them out there anywhere?

Any links to web sites with vintage sled shots will be appreciated.

If I can find more, than there may be enough combined to make a good magazine article or something. But we have to use fatter files than JPEGs and use photo shop type software to restore our pics.

But I am not experienced with digital.

So let's see what happens. I say my set is the best, and there is a personal reason why I am intent on finding out if they are.

So dig 'um out and scan 'um in, the challenge is on!
