They don't stop car drivers that often.

LB700 01-06-2003, 08:03 AM Below is a section of the Ontario Snow Vehicle Act on running the police.
Many of us have done it without knowing the consequences - you DON'T want to get caught!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Escape by flight
(3) If a person is convicted of an offence under subsection (2) and the court is satisfied on the evidence that the person wilfully continued to avoid police when a police officer gave pursuit,
(a) the person is liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $25,000, instead of the fine described in clause (2) (a);
(b) the court shall make an order imprisoning the person for a term of not less than 14 days and not more than six months, instead of the term described in clause (2) (b); and
© the court shall make an order suspending the person's driver's licence or motorized snow vehicle's operator's licence,
(i) for a period of five years, unless subclause (ii) applies, or
(ii) for a period of not less than 10 years, if the court is satisfied on the evidence that the person's conduct or the pursuit resulted in the death of or bodily harm to any person. 2000, c. 30, s. 8.
Lifetime suspension
(4) An order under subclause (3) © (ii) may suspend the person's driver's licence or motorized snow vehicle operator's licence for the remainder of the person's life. 2000, c. 30, s. 8.

The Police are out every weekend, so you have to make sure you have your papers on you. I dont know how there going to be this year but in the past I rarely saw them out during the week.
TallCool1 01-06-2003, 10:03 AM It sounds like those OPP fellas were pretty cool about it. You can't really blame them since he bolted a couple times. I say cool because they apparently didn't harass the rest of the group or try to lay a ton of b.s. citations on the guy...the guy had to know he was gonna get caught sooner or later.

They were really nice cops, it seemed that they were more interested in seeing if you had trail permits than anything else. Untill they saw the yellow and orange rev. The guy that got the ticket switched his suit right before he left so the cop woulldn't reconize him. But the cops had a feeling it was him but couldn't 100 percent prove it since he switched his suit. The rest of the quys in the qroup were pissed at the guy because he is giving sledders a bad name by outrunning the cops, for no reason at all, but I quess he thinks he looks cool.
Mighty RX-1 01-06-2003, 10:47 AM What's that white stuff :(

I was going to mention this...but I didn't want to come down on the guy since I don't know him. He really didn't help the image of sledders. This kind of thing prob gives the OPP reason to be out in greater force...hope not.
WoodyCam 01-06-2003, 11:20 AM I agree with Jim
Downriver Thunder 01-06-2003, 11:22 AM He needed someone to run interferance.
