need to replace the front shocks on my 93 indy, just curious as to the best absorber ( gas or hydrolic) for pretty much just trail riding and the odd days we get some jumps and stuff, and also what brand is best. :sly:

What type of shock you need will depend on your budget and how long you plan on having the sled. If it were me and I only rode smooth trails at a low speed I would replace with factory shocks. On the other hand if you like to ride faster on not so smooth trails I would at least get a set of gas shocks" ryde fx" or eqv. But if you plan on keeping sled for more than say 2 years and you ride say 1000 miles a year I would install fox shocks and also put wide kit with heavier sway bar. Fox IMO are the best upgrade for your type of sled. I owned a 90 indy 500 and the first thing I did was install fox shocks front and rear. I rebuilt them 2 times in 4 years and removed them and installed in the next sled I got which was a 94 indy 500 and rode 2 more years. they are a great long term investment. SWRules

I have a 1990 indy 500 and I bought a pair of POLARIS shocks from a 1997 ULTRA. I made my sled wider to the 42.5 ski stance and those shocks off the 1997 are great. The ride is so smooth, I think that was the best investment for my sled. I am sure that the POLARIS shocks like I got would be good enough for your style of riding and easy on the pocket book.
