hey guys, i've been reading these forums for a couple weeks now, and I've noticed that most of the time you know what you're talking about.
so i need your help on this, I have a 98 ZR 500 and, naturally I want more out of it, I was wondering what your opinions were for each of these and if they would even make a difference on a machine like mine
--boost bottle
--exhaust pipe (single or twin pipes)
--silencer
--V-Force 3 reeds
--better spark plugs (racing)
--clutch springs or weights (what's the difference between the 2?)
--jets
--better belt
--gutting air box (what exactly does that mean and will it help me?)
:D I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP :D

go to www.blackmagicracing.com they are ur best bet for arctic cat stuff, they will have the reeds, pipes, clutch kit to get ur 500 to scream.

Lets start at the top of your list
1 boost bottle never heard of running them on ACs not sure though
2 exaust pipe gives you more hp all through the powerband usually takes weight off and requires clutching and jetting changes.
3 canister mostly changes sound reduces weight and can add some hp but not much
4 vforce reeds work well on the 500 i ran vforce2s on my zr500 added bottom end and midrange power maybe 2-3hp but makes throttle response much better
5 spark plugs stick to the br9eys your not going to gain much with anything else
6 Clutch springs and weights all fit into the clutching category and you need to add helix to the list. This changes how you use your power. More bottom end top end. This is a complicated subject that takes alot of trial and error.
7 Jets change the fuel to air ratio. You change this when you add hp change temp or elevation.
8 Belts use the high quality AC belt seems to be the best one in my opinion.
9 Gutting the air box means you open up the airbox and remove the shelf to cut down on air flow restriction. I don't think it makes much difference on the smaller engines 5 & 6
Just my opinion but i haven't had much luck with Black Magic. Look into D&D single as far as pipes go most people consider it the best pipe for the 500. Also get the clutch kit to go with whatever pipe you get. I hope I did a decent job of briefly explaining everything.
