PANTERAONE: What Bushing came out? If their installed correctly with the Bombardier tools they should never be a problem, but they have to be installed RIGHT. Also can you post a picture of the loose bushing?, I,d like to see it. Dino

PANTERAONE: Again I,ll say if their installed correctly using locktite, and the tool that flares them over they will never move. My bet would be a poor installation job at the Rotax plant or the dealer. Dino

Maybe a dumb question on my part but I dont care; I changed the pins and primary spring in my clutch that will not affect this bushing on my sled will it? I just get nervous sometimes (quite often really).

I actually just changed my Goodwin pins back out for my stockers due to Panteraones last problems.

Thanks

Dumb question but what caused that to happen? Or does it just break? ???

Do you like the TRA that much compared to buying a Comet? I know when I had a DOO, I never cared for the TRA.

Well, it sounds like you had a problem way back when, and no one really "fixed" it. They might have just thrown in a new bushing and sent ya on your way.

I had a friend who got a new primary clutch for his 99 ZR500 last year, 3 years off warrenty, and it blew the primary under warrenty. Played the "It could have exploded and killed me" line

Pantera, sorry to hear about your recent clutch problems.I also tend to believe that a sloppy bushing installation was to blame.See what your dealer can do for ya.Good Luck!

I feel your pain. I think your clutch was out of balance from the beginning and hammered its self to death twice. It's amazing how even the biggest bearings will fail with a slight balance problem. Not that it matters now but is the little balance weight still on the govern cup?

what clicker # did you have it in???
sometimes with the longer pin like you where running they with hit on the governer cap causing such an explosion

That sucks Pantera...You're always helping other guys with thier sleds, now you have to work on your own. Did your dealer help you out at all since it was a repetitive problem????

i never had a balancing weight on the cup,the new tra i picked up today has one...i was on clicker 2 when it happened but i was running solid 24 g pins, they are longer than stock but they were not hitting, the goodwin heavy adj, were longer and they were giving me a problem with hitting the cup, never went back to the dealer, just bought another clutch,im sure i wouldnt get anywhere as i have lots of mileage, and he knows i drive mostly off trail,so would have just said im to hard on it..at least i got a great deal on a new clutch for cheaper than the parts i would have needed to rebuild mine...

lol jim..i love working on my buddies sleds ...but not mine :p

Was it the original TRA in the '01? I replaced the spring & cover in my '01 MXZ 600 tonight & noticed that the bushing in the original cover & the replacement is now staked in 3 places on the outside instead of being flared. Also, looking from the inside, it would appear that the bushing is pushed into a blind hole. So you would think that it would be impossible for the bushing to "drop out" like it did.

PANTERAONE, revrnd; Good pictures of the spring cover, I still like the old method of retaining the bushing. Sometimes they try to use a cheaper method but their not always to successful. Dino

boy you guys sure are hard on the mechanic! I'll have you know that I installed the bushing in Panteraone's now blown up clutch last season. This sled did the same thing with the original clutch around the same millage. Then last year we had to completely rebuild the replacement clutch after the same amount of milles. Now she blows after slightly less miles. Now you tell me that it's my fault this clutch failled? You think I overlooked something? As much as I love the TRA I think there's something in the design that needs to be improved. Perhaps a bigger bushing? There's something about Pantera's engine and ridding stile that this clutch does'nt like. Lets not forget that this is Pantera's second engine and they've both blown one or two clutchs. The next time you bash the mechanics workmanship, make sure he wasn't just some guy with a lifetime of rotax experience doing someone a favor. And make sure you know wtf you're talking about(no flared bushings here guys). Oh and by the way I use only the best quality ski-doo products and tools in my backyard garage. :withstupid:
