I'm thinking about buying a 1998 Summit 670, I've experience with vintage sleds but I'm new to the newer sleds. Some one told me that the 670 eats drive belts for lunch, and to stay away from them, and get something newer. Any advice about the 670 would be appreciated.

Thanks Jim

Far from it. If the clutches are alignened properly your belts will last forever. I have had my 97 670 for two years now and could very well be on the same belt for over 3000 kms. I did buy a new one this year and move my other one (which is perfectly good) as a spare. I have no measurable wear on that belt after over 2000 kms *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My buddy has a 97 670 summit, and that thing is still rockin. Wish I had bought one like it instead of the whale. *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I don't think you can go wrong with any 670 sled. That motor is tried and tested. If I were you I would try to get a 98 or 99 summit X with the H.O. motor, you will love it.
