l'm having trouble with my 99 polaris 600 this year it won't idle unless the choke is on and as soon as l get on the gas it backfires more. lt has a boost bootle and changed the needles from r1368-g to r1371 last year and had no problems with it.l need help with this and under the exhaust is black. thanks

Sounds like the pilot jets may have gotten gummed up a bit during storage. Pull the carbs and unscrew the pilot jets to clean them properly.

Sounds like an air leak. Check your carb boots carefully. The backfiring is caused by a lean condition, which you add less air when the choke is engaged.

You might want to check your Reeds. If they are weak or chiped, they will make your engine run lean. You should be checking this once a year.

Seems to be lean at the pilot stage. Look at your pilot circuit.

Probaly have a small bit of crud in the pilot jets.
