I rode my 670ho about 140 miles last weekend. About half way through the ride my sled started taking a long time to idle down when I stopped. When I started the ride it idled down quickly to 1800 RPM. When it started acting up it would come down to 3500 to 4000 quickly then take a lot of time before eventually ending up around 2000 to 2200. Otherwise, it runs awesome! Any ideas? Could a PTO side crank seal leak cause this. It does get dirty behind the cltuch but I sprayed the p!ss out of it with starting fluid and it did not change anything. Could it have something to do with DPM?

if your carbs have been sync'd recently then try lowering your slide height.take a 10mm wrench and loosen the jam nut on both carbs.then turn in the cable 1/8 turn on both carbs.

I kind of have that same problem on my 02 mxz 500. I need to ride around for a few to get it warmed up. when I stop, it idles at about 4000 rpm's, then if you hit the thrott;e, it comes down to about 2000, 1800. After a few minutes it comes down on its own. Not that big a deal I dont think.

when you stop after the ride and it does not idle down tyr hitting the enrichener a second and she will come down ,but if that works it means your fuel screws should be turned out a little, or if you have round slides which i think they are air screws , turn them in a little

i have a 97 formula 500 dlx that did the same thing i pulled my carbs and pull the float bowl off and hold the carb upside down look at the float arms see if there flat across (level) mine were slightly running up hill i bent them down a bit just under level this will keep the fuel level in the bowl down a touch and will close the main jet some times there to much fuel in the bowl and will keep the jet open till it burns the extra fuel till it seats the jet close check you main jet and make sure its clean and is seating closed you might need some new jets gas will detereate brass over time look for a ring around the needle if so youll need a new needle it s not sealing in the jet right due to excess fuel in the bowl kinda like the inside of your toilet tank mine ran high idle till i shuke it around and the idle droped down

i tried doo 900's suggestion and turned air screw in a 1/4 turn which richened it, and it seems fine now, it's just kind of wierd after all this time owning the machine (mxz 670 ho) that i would have to doo this. i always would set the carbs to the manual and it was always dead on. maybe wear and tear or when i cleaned the carbs didn't get the pilots good enough, but anyways thanks to all. but in the back of my mind i still wonder is there something else wrong?

Nothing else wrong. I have two 99 HO's and both were lean on the bottom. Usually a 1/2 turn in on the air screw will fix em up.
