: Sdi Engine Misfire
mariobross55 01-14-2003, 09:48 PM Hi guys...
Just to make you aware... there has been a recall on the SDI engine to replace the tank fuel filter..
The fuel filter gets blocked and the engine stalls... Some guys got only 50Km before the filter clogged, others no more than 300Km... so before you get stuck, make sure your filter has been replaced with the right one...

Trail Cruiser 01-15-2003, 08:54 PM Thanks for the tip. I just picked mine up yesterday. I'll call my dealer about it tomorrow.
No1Hookman 01-17-2003, 09:37 PM I managed to put about 650 miles on mine and so far the engine light continually flashes with a beep from time to time. Sometimes hard to start and even caught on fire once. There was raw gas coming out of the exhaust, she caughed and presto, there was fire under 'er. Other than that, she runs GREAT!! Good mileage 15-16 so far. Ran a ZR 800 last sunday and creamed him out of the hole and held on to win in about 1300 feet. Three out of three runs, so I don't think it was a fluke. The two sleds look to have about the same top end.
Oh, and another thing, the dealer in Quebec knew what's wrong with the sled, but guess what?? Parts are BACKORDERED. Technology sure is great!!

Hey No1Hookman,
We used to chat a bit on RSS. So what serial number did you get with the SDI?? :D Guess you don't even have to fire up one of the Mach's for the ZR eh.. BTW Your milage is on par with the RX-ton.

BLADEGUY 01-18-2003, 07:54 AM I'm sorry but I have to admit that I laughed out loud when you said that it runs great other than the time it caught on fire! Looking forward to the SDI. Glad you guys are working the bugs out of it!
No1Hookman 01-18-2003, 09:04 AM Evel, I've got number 23 on the Legend. Funny thing about the ZR was he had 192 studs too. I have 0. Also ran him with the '99 Mach that I sold to one of my buddies.
He got the jump because the Mach is hard to get hooked up. By 500 feet it was over as I went by him like a freight train passing a bum. 3 for 4 on that deal. Hookup on first run screwed me. I peddled hard, but just got within half a length. Another 50 feet and it would have been in my favor. Oh, well.
As far as the fire goes, I actually laughed about it too, as soon as I got it out. The rest of the week I had a small extinguisher in the back!! Bad thing about that is if you "burn" down, you still need to get 'er back to the trailer. Of course, ski-doo says that can't happen. Wait 'til my dealer sees my belly pan!! It got little plastic balls of plastic on the right side and soot on the radius arm.
BTW, all this took place at the Cabanon outside of St. Zenon.

Trail Cruiser 01-20-2003, 05:45 PM I've got 410 mile on mine so far and it's back at the dealers because of the flashing engine light. This thing really rocks. I rode with an RX-1 all weekend long and was within 1-2 tenghts of a gallon at each fillup. My MPG's are as follows, 14.6, 14.5, 14.2, 15.3, 16.5, & 17.5. I absolutely love this thing....here are some pics

#1Hookman,
Wow I hope they get it so she runs without the flames :o) I rode the St. Donat/St Zeon area last year. We stayed at a place with Chalets right at the entrance to Mt.Tremblant. Conditions were not good there last year :( So far this year we have lots of snow in NY so we have been riding locally.. Keep me posted on that SDI..

That is the sweetest looking sled!! Why does it have the extended tunnel?? Is that a 136" track??
Cheers
Evel
Trail Cruiser 01-20-2003, 07:06 PM Evel, I bought a track extension kit and had my dealer install it. Yes, its a 136. The had some problems because Doo changed the SC10III suspension from 2002 and never told anyone. They had to modify it a little but it worked out excellent. Pretty happy with it...it rides like a charm.
S/N on mine is 9
TC,
Man you created one awesome sled!! SDI Legendgade :D Wanna trade for a Mach Z Tech Plus :p
Keep us posted on your impressions of the SDI.
Cheers,
Evel
permafrost 01-20-2003, 07:28 PM Kudos to the first SDI renegade. Very nice indeed ;) :) What size track do you have on?
Trail Cruiser 01-20-2003, 08:28 PM Thanx guys......I've got a 1" track and 158 picks. Have not had a chance to see how it will work in the deep powder yet.
