This doesn't mean anything for sure but I went and looked at the parts diagrams and it shows seals and such for the ss shocks. I went and looked at a sled that I knew came with ryde FX nonrebuildables and it shows just the shock as one part number and no seals are anything.

THNX REDF7SP... WHERE DID YOU SEE THE DIAGRAM, IN A MANUAL OR CAN YOU FIND THIS ON THE NET?? MY 02 ZL800SS HAS ABOUT 1100 MILES AND I'M LEAVING FOR THE UPPER PENISULA IN MICHIGAN IN FOUR HRS FOR FOUR DAYS....SLED SHOULD HAVE 1600 OR SO MILES ON IT AFTER THE TRIP. WOULD THIS BE A GOOD TIME TO REBUILD???? NOT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THE SHOCK DEPARTMENT!!!!!!

A freind with an 800SS just had his rebuilt because it was leaking oil. It's two years old but only has about 700 miles on it. One dealer said it was $500 to replace it, another dealer rebuilt it for under $50. He hasn't rode with it back on yet but it should be o.k. now.

I'm about ready to replace mine with fox shocks. This POS sled bottoms out more than a low rider.

I just moved my rear arm back one hole, now it rides lousy and bottoms out. :sarcasm:

if you weigh more than 175 look at installing the heavy rear springs that should help the bottoming.
