What kinds of things should be done to a sled... After every ride? every week? month? I have EXT 580 Deluxe EFI. thanks a lot. SWRules

after every ride i wash the sled off and spray the pipe and the rear springs with wd-40. of course look the sled over.
after about 200 miles i grease the sled and spray the tie rod ends with a spray lube like motorcycle chain lube.
i buy the best bearing for the idlers and every 2 seasons replace them. after 4000 miles i replaced the sliders but i noticed i had a lot more left in them but already had them off and put the new ones on.

I just give the sled a once over .....looking for loose or missing bolts. I fill the oil and look under the hood for loose wieres or wires sitting to close to hot or moving parts... Something that I dont do but should is look the spider over on the primary clutch for hairline cracks and worn parts.....I try to bath it to get all the salt and debris off...

how about stuff like fuel injector cleaner for the EFI? anything else that should be added?

I've never heard of doing anything with efi injector cleaner. On my bros 99zr600efi we never used anything in the 3 years he ran it. The other thing I do is check track tightness and alignment ever 300 miles or so. Also I try to vacuum all the grass and weed pieces out of the belly pan and keep everything looking clean.

I'm with Paul, After EVERY trip I preasure wash the sled to get off any salt and dirt of the sled, bring it in my shop & put it under the radiant heat & blow it off with a blow gun from air compressor to dry the engine and wipe it down. After I lift it with the fork lift & inspect the suspension & track, & clean, grease & adjust as necessary this process takes about 1hour & it looks like new again. I know that everyone does not have the facilty to do this but there are alternative ways. I have a friend who does the total opposite & we are changing spark plugs & cleaning carbs all the time, alot of the dirt in the carbs is coming from his engine compartment.
