: Whats Up With The Short Rev Riders?
MXZonly 01-19-2003, 01:48 PM I was up in Mancelona MI area (kinda between Kalkaska and Mancelona) riding on Saturday the 18th and I saw a bunch of little short guys riding REVs standing up the whole time. Whats the deal with that?
I thought you could ride the REV standing but didnt have to, were these guys just trying to look cool or what?
Oh yeah and are REVs tippy in corners or not?
Sharkey 01-19-2003, 02:22 PM Maybe they couldn't see over the windshield while sitting. Were they from Munchkin, Michigan? :D
2002 zr 800 efi 01-19-2003, 04:21 PM I noticed the same thing.. I went riding this weekend and 2 of the guys had the REV and they were no taller than 5 foot. They stood the whole time.I think maybey they felt like they were cool but i didnt know them too well so i dont know but one thing i doo know is mayby they should have invested their money in a hormone shot to make them grow instead of buying a new sled.
Troll 01-19-2003, 04:27 PM :D Perhaps the REV takes the place of the Corvette on the trail? (Corvette=Fiberglass Peni$ Extention)
MXZonly 01-19-2003, 04:37 PM Jared maybe your group is one of the ones I saw. These were some short little dwarf like dudes standing up the whole time. I saw at least 4 guys doing this on Saturday. I was riding my wifes two tone yellow and black 02 MXZ 600 X in case maybe you saw me. At one point we were stopped trying to get a burned down sled towed away when these dudes went by.
And Jim good one!
2002 zr 800 efi 01-19-2003, 07:04 PM I dont recall seeing you. Belive me you couldnt miss your sled on the trails, you really got that baby
pimped out :D
ViperER2 01-19-2003, 07:54 PM as good as the REV is, try it standing up... you can go through almost anything that way and not feel a thing!
it really puts that piviot point "thing" to the test!
I wish I was a little shorter and lighter too :D
Trapper 01-19-2003, 08:01 PM LMAO....
Hey! maybe it was me!
Although i'm only 5'-9" (i'm not sure I qualify for the dwarf thing, but my riding partner who's 6'4" thinks so).
I also find myself standing up a lot while riding my REV.
I think if your short enough, it feels very natural (like on a dirt bike). Us short guy don't have to bend over to hold onto the bars either.
Yes, You still have to stand on the REV (maybe not in the little stuff like I had to on my old style sled), but when you do stand, the sled just rocks between your legs (like a dirt bike). And believe me, it still sucks when you have to go over 3 miles of big rollers.
I was also up in Mancelona but I was the only one in the group with a REV (I only saw one other REV that was the same orange/yellow as mine in two days).

MXZonly 01-20-2003, 06:55 PM Jared you might have missed me because I was on my wifes sled and not my pimped out beeyatch. Maybe you guys were one of the groups I saw because there was 2 little midget types on REVs in one group. Maybe not?

It didnt look like there was room left in Gaylord to park a bicycle on Sat the 18th as we stopped for gas on our way to the u.p. Were the trails beat? I dont think my Rev is tippy but not as good as a zx in the corners. Takes a little more ### off the seat and forward positioning in the sharp corners. It makes for a re-learn.
mxz800 01-21-2003, 12:10 PM oh yea ..now my wife wants me to buy a corvette....... :D
snirt 01-21-2003, 02:01 PM my rev is the least tippy sled i've ever ridden. my old 99mxz was very tippy.
as far as standing up, it's a very comfortable way to ride sometimes.(i'm 5'10") you have to bend at the knees and waist sort of backwards, not hunched over. you can lean your knees against the cowl, or gas tank, and you feel very connected to the sled. i don't think i look cool doing it, actually i think it probably looks stupid, but it's comfortable sometimes, and takes almost no effort. gives you better visibility, over the sled in front of you, over the snow-dust cloud, better perspective on bumps, and as funny as this sounds, less wind in the face. it was very cold in the up this weekend, and my face was getting cold (mx helmet) because the X windshield puts alot of wind right in your face. when you stand up, you just get the normal wind in your face, not the compressed wind off the windshield.
that's just my $.02
