i have decided on a new sleds. i am looking for real world input. i only ride trails. my wife likes to ride but slow. I am looking at mxz trail 6 or 500. any real difference. if i ride with the wife i dont want plug fouling at slow paces so maybe a 6 is too much. i am not a speed person, no lakes or straights here in pa.
revs are nice just not in my price range.
also i am looking at the ? 380 for my wife, mxz
can you experts give me some insight ? pros and cons
mxz/ legend etc
any input is greatly appreciated. i am new at this
thanx

Get the 600.
The 500 is too slow, and you'll notice it.. and wish you bought bigger.

the 600s are excellent trail sleds with not too much power but good power and you can ride fairly slow all day and not foul out or anything. I usually would open any sled up on occasion to clean it out a bit though.
For you I would say get a 600 and not the trail because the shocks are crap, get a sport.
For her I would say get Ski Doos new 550 fan, that way when she does get used to it and wants a bit more power she will already have it but not crazy liquid cooled power.
Just my opinions, I have gradually worked my wife up from a 380 to a 600 liquid over the last 7 years. I and like riding her 600 and my 800 almost equally.

How slow do you ride? The liquid cooled 500s should be capable of close to 90 mph.The 600 probably closer to a 100.Plug fouling is really a thing of the past, on a properly set up sled you can ride slow and not fowl the plugs thanks to oil injection and proper jetting. If all you'll ever see are trail speeds or a little more there's no need to buy a bigger sled if you'll never use the power. The extra power is nice if you run in deep powder or if you are on the heavy side of 200Lbs.The fan cooled sleds are nice and light but the engines(in general) don't normally last as long as liquids. You still should expect several thousand miles before any problems so this may not be an issue but if you put on a lot of miles in a season and don't trade in too often its something to consider. Some of the options on the legend are definetely nice.Reverse is a very worthwhile option but it depends on your budget. Most of the guys love to have a big fast sled whether they use it or not so don't be afraid to buy something that will suit your needs and not your ego.

hi chester the 500s in any mod would be good for both of yas the legend would be nice for the wife it has all the comfort features and is set up for trail crusing it has the same engine that the mxz has just a plush ride package
the mxz 500 and the lengend 500 will run around 80 - 90 mph stock you always can put some mods on the mxz to
pull like the bigger sleds i have tha 500 mxz and w/ a few mods ( cluch kit , reeds , and a trail can ) im pulling 105 mph on the radar you dont need any thing more for trail riding your average speed on a trail depending on conds 30mph to 60 mph yes there is times you can crack it open but remember there are others out ther and w/ kids too and trees dont move out of your way ether
i guess on your end you could go w/ the 600 but i think you wont see to much differance except top end (100mph ) stock also
think of this save a few $$ on yours and spend a few more on the wifes so she is happy and she will asking you when are we going riding :0: my wifes sled is a 97 formula 500 and when trail riding shes right there oh and anther thing go w/ a liquid cooled the way these winters are you can still ride when its 40 degress out the snow is what keeps them cooled evaluate your riding needs and the $$$ s and go have fun thats what counts !
