: Zrt 800 Fuel Milage
fast eddie 01-22-2003, 07:28 PM I just bought a 2000 zrt 800 with a gutted air box that has 370 main jets in it. It is a pig on gas. Would I be safe running stock 350 jets? Also has anyone tryed 30 pilot jet?
It runs ruff between 0 and 30 mph, like it is getting to much fuel, so i thought of going down from stock 35 would clean that up. Any input would be great. Thanks
highlandergerman 01-22-2003, 09:15 PM my 99 had a guted airbox and 350 mains, when i bought it, it burned a hole in my piston, bepending on the temp and altitude, and the color of your plugs, you can go down. if you do not know exactly what you are doing you may want to find some one that does.
Those sleds burn a lot of fuel.
My buddy has one, and burns twice the amount that my ZR6 burns.

98ZRT800 02-19-2003, 12:49 PM I have a 98, and get 10 MPG hammering it or a little better if not riding too hard. It has 420 jets, but i think there is a change from 98 to 99 that required much smaller jets. My 98 came with 450 jets, and I went down according to the chart in the manual.
katmanzrt600 02-19-2003, 09:56 PM my buddie has a 97 zrt800 and get about the same fuel milage as i do with my zrt600, he is running 430's and stock is 450's, but, be real careful on cold days, like around single #'s to near 0 degress, cause he burnt hole in piston last weekend on the river, and it was 0 degress out,
blurider 02-19-2003, 10:04 PM i have a 99zrt800 with 330 mains clutch kit and it,s hard on fuel too but it,s fast, i do not worry about fuel mileage, i get about 75 miles to a tank when riding hard. you want fuel mileage buy a 500 just my 2cnts. :D :D :D
Scatcat 02-20-2003, 12:04 AM I have a 96 zrt8 and stock mains are 450 I rejetted to 410 way to lean went to 430 and it flies.Plugs are golden brown and it dont load up.Be very careful it really sucks blowing a hole in your piston.
Cat Addict 02-20-2003, 12:17 AM No matter what you do to improve milage, your never gonna have milage like ZR's, especially efi's. The price you pay for power, my addvice take it to your local dealor and get them to set up your sled for you alltidude and normal riding temp.
GreenMan 02-20-2003, 12:43 AM On my '99 mod zrt 800 i get about 70 mpg riding mostly hard lol if i really really baby it i could get 90mpg but come on a triple 800 and baby it lol i think not. :) yeah if gas is a concern then buy a 440.
1000ml 02-20-2003, 09:34 AM my buddies 99 800 was was a pig as well, i raised the needle on clip and now he gets the same milage as my tcat roughly 100 to the tank.dd power breather and 370 mains ,could maybe drop 1 size and be safe yet on this sled. thats riding at /around 70 mph on and off the throttle with some full out blasts :)
cat4life 02-20-2003, 08:06 PM My dads got a 99 zrt 800, all stock and it is great on gas. It's got the flat slide carbs and though he doesn't drive it hard he can get better gas mileage then me on my 440, granted I'm normally drivin full throtle. He can get upto 110-120 miles on a tank of gas.
HP&Torque 02-23-2003, 05:51 PM :p My 99 is just about the same as 1000ml's only diff, is i have filters, no air box, have gotten to 100 miles to the tank on several occassions, But when it gets cold, ie, down to around 5 or 6 degrees, or less, i watch jetting carefully and pistion wash,, also it gets amoco ultimate ( 92 octane)
