An XLT will have much more speed and excellent handleing but they are not nearly as builet proof as a 500.

IMO the best trail sled for the early to mid 90's would be the xcr440 with the fox shocks, it is as fast or faster than the 500 and has the better shock package. If you want a 500 make sure to find one with the fox shocks or install them yourself. SWRules

I had a 93 600 xlt, great sled, very fast and handles awesome, but not very forgiving on the bumps. My buddy had a 95 600 xlt the same performance, and handleing, but much better on the bumps. Both sleds have fox shocks, but his had a higher and better suspension. My sled was bored, piped, and picked making it a little faster, 105 to 110 mph in the right conditions.I also have a buddy with a 90 Indy 650. It has the same suspenion as my 93 xlt, making it lower to the ground then the 95 xlt. It also handles great and is alittle faster then mine (top end). I take him in a 1000 feet then he reels me in and goes bye. But it also doesn't like the bumps. Hope this helps. :blahblah:
