I have a 97 mach z and its at the dealer again... they told me it could possibly be bad but there not sure.. they found a high low voltage wire broke and fixed it. still not firing on the mag cylinder...just comes out soaking wet and not firing its getting spark but i dont think its enough.
how do you test a cdi box??? what else could be wrong???

Stator tested...
coils tested
carbs cleaned and synced
plungers checked for freezing
?????

Electronic gremlins are sometimes hard to find. Even the ski doo service manuals tell you swapping parts is sometimes your only way.

urocav2001: Change the mag and the ctr plug wire and see if the problem follows, I would bet on a dead coil or a carb problem. Dino

I had the tech clean syn and check the plungers on the carbs he said he found a high/low voltage wire loose s he fixed that and its sill not getting enough spark on th mag side cyl i belive he tested the coils...

there is spark but not much

Just had my 98 Mach Z in for a similar problem, when the engine reached normal operating temp, it would start cutting in and out on one cylinder until it finally broke down on me one day, NO SPARK. They told me that a wire had rubbed though and grounded on the chasis. It was under the engine, they had to pull it to find it. Common problem with machs.

When I first got my used Skidoo it had an intermittant CDI. It would spark and I figured it was good. When the dealer serviced the sled this fall he found the problem and sold me a new one. It was not an apparent problem at the time but this year it sure starts and runs much better !

;) itrunsfine but it is just not getting enough spark to the mag side cyl. it has been running fine since the carbs were cleaned and ect... he did fina a loose wire and repared it but he thinks it the cdi box... it getting good spark to the other two cyl bt not the mag side...
i just dont want to buy a 320 box and not hae it be it

I have the same problem on my ;89 Mx. Not sure if its the CDI or not. Was running fine and then just died like i hit the kill switch, any ideas???

From what I have heard, when a CDI goes bad it stops working altogether. Sounds to me like you have a coil problem. Are the coil and CDI one unit? I have a Blizzard with Bosch CDI-coils (both in one) and the coil part is goin bad.

yeah my sled has stopped altoghther, it dosnt even have spark anymore. I think the CDI's gone. :sly:
