Ooooh. Good question.

I would imagine there's a lot of variables that come into play here.
Trail / snow conditions, driver weight, riding style, track lug length and number of and length of studs, type of riding like trail, off trail, mountain powder, etc.

I'd answer but I just bought my new baby so I don't have a clue yet what will work for me.
My 02 Legend, I usually kept the limiter strap one looser from stock and the ski springs tight. It made for more effort on steering but it railed like a roller coaster. Just aim and jam the throttle.
My bigger problem was that with the track I put on it and too many studs, it hooked up too well so I needed to overcome that with more ski pressure directly on the skis.

I had to say other .. ON mine I have the ski shocks on 1 center shock 2 and rear springs on 2 and the skid un coupled. The limiter strap is out 1 from stock. This seams to work for me , MY issue is im to lite to hold it down and have to muscle the thing around . 135 lbs VS'S 469lbs sled im kinda on the losing end .

With this set up I can make it pivit real nice on the hard pack and still have good bite with the 136x 1.5, I also have the flex ski's on it too (huge improvement vs's the duel indessions)

This is timely. I just bought an 07 MXZ 500SS, so everything is stock. I'm about 165-170 lbs, most of my riding in groomed trail (Seguin). Should I just leave it stock and tweak things as I go or do any you have some recommends based on my criteria. My wife just got an 06 Freestyle fan (380cc) and hers is also stock.
