Have a problem and need some advice. My pull start is slipping on my 02 MXZ 800. So, I took it apart. Sure enough the spring popped out. Wondering how I am going to get it back in. Can anyone help.

Also, the red plastic gear is slifghtly rounded off. It really doesn't look too bad. I thought that would be the problem but not sure.

The recoiler slowly deteriorated over time and now won't grab at all.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

There is a revised recoil for these sleds.So far it's holding up better than the original :)

Yeah, call your dealer, I got mine replaced with the most current upgrade for that part at no charge. I was told it was a recall deal and they replaced the entire assembly with new HD part.

i bought the 2003 recoil for my 2001,and with plenty of pulls its working great,the original one was a piece of junk and gave me nothing but problems,after many rebuilds
