I have a '98 ZL 500 just finished rebuilding new crank etc. when I test ran it was perfect .tried it again 2 days later and know I can't get it to shut down. I've checked all the wiring everything checks out ok . I tried a cdi unit for a '96 ZRT 600 same conections the only difference I can find in the two units are 98 has an open circuit ignition and the 96 has a closed circuit ignition thus the 96 will run the 98 in off not on for the key switch. Both CDI's run the 98 in on and off position but both work fine on the 96 ZRT just opposite CAN ANYONE HELP ME???????????

Go back through and check your grounds. Your 98 should be open ignition which would need ground to STOP running.
Maybe you forgot to connect a wire...
