I noticed that my rope was splintering and I pulled my recoil off and cut the rope off. How do you pre-tention the spring with the cord. Sorry about speeling. Thanks in advance. Paul

well if its like an older one, dont let the spring come apart form the housing, ya need to wind the reel a few good turns till the reel has tension , hook the new rope & let the reel pull it back in, make sure ya wind the proper direction so that the fingers eject when ya pull .if the spring has come apart on ya, you will have to coil it by hand & set it back in side the housing , If the rope cannot be hooked with the reel in place youll have to disassemble the reel & pre wind the rope , then re-assemble the reel & spring , then wind it & feed the rope back through the little hole . these can be frustrating , be patient , be careful with the spring its about a foot in diameter if it comes unglued outside the housing, waaaamo !

Thanks, Arcticman :) I guess I already screwed it up a bit. And of coarse, it snowed about 4 inches last night(personnaly, I figured it would snow if I disabled my sled) Oh well, the primary clutch is there and I've got a strap. Paul
