I am working on this ext that wont charge.I checked lighting coil out put and it was ok.What i found wrong was the ac/dc regulator was not working so $200 and i thought my problem would be fixed WRONG!The regulator is getting voltage from the lighting coil and throuh the regulator but i am still not getting 13.5 volts to my battery so the sled rus until the batt goes dead i checked the fuse by the batt all grounds and also my batt light on hood has no power to.I think i might have a broken wire somewhere that would explain why the regulator went bad my new regulator is already getting hot.Can any body think of what could be wgong? Also does anybody know what color the wire is that returns voltage to the batt i think it is red/blue.Well guys i hope somebody can come up with something. Thanks

If your regulator is getting hot it sounds like you have a dead short and the regulator is grounding out. Someplace the wires are crossed or bare. Sorry I can not be of further help. You probably need to get ahold of someone that has a wireing diagram. I would try your dealer and talk to the Mechanic. you might be able to get a copy from them..Good luck mate..

Have you load tested the battery?

There is one light system and one for battery charge.
ther is one AC reg. and one DC reg.
the wire "to" the battery is red!
Red/blue goes to (suplyes) the EFI and CDI harnes and allso to the battery bulb in the tachometer.
From the "engine coils" 0,20 ohm betwen yellow/red and yellow/red, this is to the battery. 0,14 ohm betwen yellow and brown is to lights and hand warmer.
Did this help.......... ?
