I always buy Snowgoer, partly because I like to support Canadian media, and partly because I can't get enough ski-doo magazines and will buy almost anything. But it seems like everytime I buy Snowgoer I end up telling myself it was a complete waste of money. It takes about 10 minutes to read it from cover to cover, and the articles are usually too short to go into anykind of depth.
Also Craig Nicholson drives me nuts. I remember reading his column when he was supporting the move to hand over the trails to the government, and now this month he's saying that the very sport of snowmobiling is in danger because of insurance. Ridiculous!
Snowmobiling is much too popular, and much too important to our economy to think that people will just stop ski-dooing. If winters of little or no snow doesn't kill the sport, nothing will.
At one point he asks "Who among us wants to share a trail with an uninsured rider?" Well, if I had the choice between not ski-dooing, or ski-dooing where there were uninsured riders, guess which one I'd pick. In Newfoundland insurance is not mandatory, and very few people have it. Still, there are ALOT of machines on the go, probably more than there would be if insurance was mandatory.
Anyway, I've got to stop buying this magazine. I just wish that Snow Tech came out more than 5 times a year. It is by far the best mag available.
