I always buy Snowgoer, partly because I like to support Canadian media, and partly because I can't get enough ski-doo magazines and will buy almost anything. But it seems like everytime I buy Snowgoer I end up telling myself it was a complete waste of money. It takes about 10 minutes to read it from cover to cover, and the articles are usually too short to go into anykind of depth.
Also Craig Nicholson drives me nuts. I remember reading his column when he was supporting the move to hand over the trails to the government, and now this month he's saying that the very sport of snowmobiling is in danger because of insurance. Ridiculous!
Snowmobiling is much too popular, and much too important to our economy to think that people will just stop ski-dooing. If winters of little or no snow doesn't kill the sport, nothing will.
At one point he asks "Who among us wants to share a trail with an uninsured rider?" Well, if I had the choice between not ski-dooing, or ski-dooing where there were uninsured riders, guess which one I'd pick. In Newfoundland insurance is not mandatory, and very few people have it. Still, there are ALOT of machines on the go, probably more than there would be if insurance was mandatory.

Anyway, I've got to stop buying this magazine. I just wish that Snow Tech came out more than 5 times a year. It is by far the best mag available.

Snow Tech and Supertrax are great! I feel the same way about snogoer but I still subscribe.

As far as Craig Nicholson goes I agree, that man has to wake up and live in the real world. Life does not revolve southern Ontario and north of there. Most of his statements are so outlandish that when he does say something worth listening too I have to ignore it also!

Well I like the SnowGoer Canada :)

Yes it is no Snowtech but is still a good read

I like Gord and Chris on the way they give their opinions :sly: and not just what the manufacture gives them

I also like Nicholson

Yet I see were you guys are coming from since you are not from Ontario no Quebec,I guess it is just like government :p

I do not like SnowGoer USA/SnowSports(canadian version)

I loved Supertrax but now they seem self indulged with themselves

AMS is uh ok

Yes STV Blaicher guy that comments on sleds is funny because each sled to him is like the bestest ever LOL :p

The funny part he is part of the sled smart team and then they show him roosting and jumping and inside cornering on sled LOL

You can buy SnowTech at most newsstands, even the grocery stores sell it around here. You can subscribe to it online at www.snowtechmagazine.com. I finally got a subscription to it after buying it off the rack for years, even when it was Race& Rally :)

Newfiebullet;

I guess that particular mag just doesn't have the budget to travel around the rest of Canada to snowmobile. It overall is not a bad mag just that it is biased. They don't know what it is like to snowmobile till they hit the base of the Lewis Hills in Newfoundland. No groomers, Near vertical climbing, snow canyons, etc you get the picture dont' you?
Still it is great you support the Canadian economy.

Some issues I'll agree w/ Nicholson, some I don't. I have seen Nicholson write about the other provinces, NB, PQ (north shore that big bridge, Gaspe) & Manitoba. If you're looking for info on touring I think he probably has the best articles.

Kevin Cameron delves into the tech stuff pretty well. Their testing leaves something to be desired

About the only thing Supertrax has accomplished is to get some real world weights of sleds. I'm not into their "cliqueness". You know what I mean

Snow Sports (Snow Goer in the US) & Snowmobile aren't that great either. I think Ehlert Publishing must be owned by AC or Pol. :D
