: Oil Consumption.

My 98 XLT SP has the EC58PL140 Engine block which has a oil line feeding the PTO bearing so I expect the pump to put out more oil than a sled without this extra oil line.

Here are my nimbers: after a 30 mile ride with full oil & gas, I consumed 20 oz of oil, and 316 oz of gas. My figures come to 16:1 ratio.

Can somebody please check my math & correct me if I'm wrong.

I checked my pump lever and it was slightly above its mark, the adjuster was almost all the way down. I had to bend the bracket in order to give me enough travel to lower the arm to just below the alignment mark. I doubt that this little bit of adjustment will put me into the proper ratio needed. I would like to know exactly what the output of this particular oil pump should be?
Will continue to monitor my oil & gas usage to see what changes my adjustment have made.
Any input or advice would be appreciated.

Frustrated in Ontario. lol lol

I have a 97 Ultra SPX and she loves to eat oil also. If your numbers are right that is to much oil though. I definetly use a full quart per tank plus some I think. But oil is cheaper than a motor I say!!

i agree sleddogg, i would much rather spend 2 or 3 dollars on a plug than 2 to 3 hundred new engine parts, although 16:1 is a little rich, on my rebuilt i ran 25:1 and went through only 3 sets of plugs and the 4th im still using.
