I was up north doing the deep snow thing and I noticed my sled got louder almost every mile.....I was looking under the hood checking this and that and couldnt find anything......so I figure the hell with it I just started bagging on her real hard back to the cabin.....we arrive at the shack or cabin whatever you want to call it and I open my hood for the last time and I feel exhaust from the center of the pipe....So I rip the insulation and cover off and I see this hole.....Its unreal the seam split from one end of the pipe to the other and in the middle the pipe was ripped almost all the way around....If I had gone another 10 miles my pipe would have been in two pieces.......Has this ever happened to anyone before??....The funny part is that even with a hole in the pipe I was still neck and neck with my frieds ZR800....

Pipes split down the seam on many 96 ZRT's but they fixed the problem through the season.

Sled Head do you have a F7. I thought you did for some reason. If so on hardcoresledder.com its been sounding like this is happening to alot of F7s. Seems like it usually starts by that first big corner in the pipe.

frigg, those f 7's are crazy fast. u said u had that hole in your pipe and still stayed with a zr 800. well i raced a f 7 at the first of the year with my 02 zr 800 which is clutched with a very good setup.he was only beating me between 4o and 70 mph, had more mid range than me but we were equal out of the whole and top end. later that week, that same f 7 was tiped apart and they found it had 1 bad piston and cylinder. lets just say that i doubt it would be that close now.

See......people didn't want to believe the power of the F7, but what other sled has so much power that it blows a hole in the pipe??!! Cat should be coming out with a bulletin to tune down all F7's, or advise people to run straight off the head with no pipes!! :D :p
