I have a 98 ZR 500 and a problem, recently I noticed the running board was bent and the place where you tuck your foot up was also bent down a bit, I have no idea how this could happen besides jumping it, but I never get more than 5 feet of air

are these just really weak running boards??
thanks for the help :)

It happens to alot of aggressive riders. I would check out the Rox sledtreds to help strengthen the boards up.

Try to straighten the best you can, then go to the store and buy a half-inch aluminum rod. Cut it to the length of your running board, then pound it into the rolled edge with a mallet. This makes them much stronger, with a very small weight penalty.

i guess thats why cat went to the new stule running board on the zr's, firecats etc. i love mine. but yeh, i would have to say that the style of boards on your sled r weak. they should have changes them 10 yrs ago.

The running boards on my 97 ZR580 are bent too. Thanks for the ideas on making them stronger.

% feet of air over a few year period = bent running boards, no biggie, they add characture to your machine!
