Hey Guys (and gals), :D

Have the electric shield for my Txi helmet wired in correctly to my 99 ZL6 EFI (extra two prong plug under dash) but I would much rather have it plugged into an accesory RCA jack like Ski Doo sells. I plan on mounting the jack on the left side steering column just under the handlebars. This will be a much neater install then just having the wire dangling form the dash. :)

Trouble is, local Ski Doo dealer (must not have appreciated my ZL hat) wants to gouge me for $25 american for their jack assembly (about $5 worth of parts). :cussing:

Anyone have a heads up where I can pick one of these jacks (preferably with waterproof cover) on the 'net....and no, I do not want to jury rig non waterproof panel mount RCA plug from Radio Shack....

Thanks,

Skip

Royal Distributing at
[U]www.royaldistributing.com[U]
sells them for $9.95 Cdn.
It's part number 40-993907 on page 46 of their catalogue.

Your stock Txi wires should plug into the back of the plug (receptacle).
Before you drill a hole in your plastic trim, check your clearance requirement for the plug and the receptacle together.
I'm not sure that it'll fit in your handlebar trim.

Hope this helps.

Radio Shack usually has a variety of RCA plugs also. I've gotten a few plugs for the heater cords from them.

I'd pass on the jack that Royal sells. I installed one of their's when I got my '01 MXZ in the fall of 2000. It didn't last the season. The movement of my helmet cord caused the jack to come apart. I replaced it w/ the 'doo jack & it is still going strong.

:withstupid: I went to my dealer to buy that same unit that Royal sells. My dealer had a few but refused to sell me one because most of them were coming back. If you do buy it and it does break you will be stuck with that 1" hole it requires for mounting and your only option is to buy another one or replace the plastic you drilled out. I have been using a standard RCA bulkhead type fitting on my atv's and sleds for 13+ years and have never had a problem. Just my 2cents

Skip, sounds like you should go to Radio Shack or buy it from Doo. The dealer wasn't that far off according to Doo's catalog (http://www.ski-doo.com/SkiDoo2003/web/jsp/100_mainPage.jsp?Params=N.US.402.0&catId=4&size=12&start=0&index=0). It appears that Doos quality would be much better than the one from Royal.
