Hey ice racers, any of you live in lower eastern Michigan and race on Anchor Bay. It is local hotspot in the winter for ice racing sleds, quads and motocycles(A few idiots even line their vehicles up and race). I was there today and there was a handful of people riding already. Ice is 5-6" thick. Maybe *some grudge *matches could be arranged if any of you ride there.

I'm on the Bay all the time, so if anyone needs a hand let me know and we will hook up on the ice, but it's to thin for me just yet. It is a ton of fun.

Motozone55, did you race anyone?

No, I didnt have my sled. Just went down to check the ice and was surprised to see people riding on it. Weather is supposed to stay cold so the ice should be better next weekend. I agree, the ice is a little thin for me right now. I'm planning on going next weekend!

I'm over to Conger Bay and it looks a little unsafe right now. Maybe next week will be different. Also, do you use any ice scratchers on your sleds? Or are they a waste of $$$?

Not sure if I know what ice scratchers are? The springs that bolt to the bottom of the sled and drag on the ice to kick up snow on the cooler? If so, no. If cooling is a issue use Red Line Water Weter, or a cool down box.

Never been there but would like to go if time permits. I am always up north.
Toydoc, just got back from Indian river--- what a joke. Groomers not running, thru a track first night out, rougher then a cob because everybody and their brothers are up there. I came home a day early because my brothers brand new zl800 twisted a rear susp. spring beyond use and nobody had one. Kevin

Toydoc, are you going to be out there in two weeks? I am going up north next weekend but would be able to drive over there on the 19th? (sat) as I have to stay home that weekend as my wife has a baby shower to go to on that sunday so I have to be home to watch the kids. I would love to take my sled out there just to see how it holds up to some of those "big" guys. Kevin

Well bad news, good news.
Bad, a 4X4 plow truck went through the ice last nite, up to about the head lights. Sat the ice was on the thin side and it did't get cold that nite ( 31* at 7am Sun ) so Sun it was alot of water and thin ice. Most people unloaded on land and had only the sleds on the ice. So don't drive on the ice....

Lots of fast & nice sleds racing, one of the fast sleds from both days was a all black Ski-doo ( LMS racing ? ) I think he used the NOS on Sun.
One sled that ran Sun. was a 4 cyl. Cat. Looked like 4 D&D Predator cyl's, could be 1600 cc..? * big stuff. *What do you think the HP was on that one??

I cant say. I'll try to take the gun next time. Ran out of hands this weekend, 5 toolbox's and the walk to the track stinks...

North of the park. Take M-29 to just past Fair Haven, or for you take 23 mi all the way to Fair Haven. Look for sleds.

Toydoc, I was down there also on Sunday for about an hour. Just watching cause my sled twisted the drive shaft a week ago. Was the truck that went through the ice white with a red plow. I saw him plowing and could see the ice moving under him. Did he fall through on the track while plowing. I will be there next Sat and Sun as long as the ice holds out. Weather for Wed and Thurs dont look so good. Highs in the 40's.

Hopefully I will be there next weekend the 19th?
Motozone. What kind of sled did the shaft snap on? I am repairing one for a guy in my garage right now that has broken the drive axle. It is a 2000 zl600. *heard a buddy of mine just broke the axle on his zl600 also another 2000. Kevin

moto, it was a new green Ford with a yellow plow. We had a ATV 4X4 that we had been plowing the ice with but some one must of thought it took to long and used the truck. The weight of the truck/plow/snow that he pushed all in one spot did it in. Bad part is he was only out to help, but must have been 50 people helping to get him out. I don't know about the weekend yet, we need more cold days to go on the ice. If we do, it will be sleds only.

Looks like this weekend is done. Hit nearly 50 today and mid 40's thur. Hopefully it wont melt too much and we can get on it the following weekend. Too bad for me, I just tonight finished repairing my sled. Sleddinfool, my sled is a zrt 800. The shaft twisted at the splined end. The engine has been bored and since I have had ratcheting problem. I think this ruined the shaft. I bought anti ratchet sprockets from Wahl Bros so hopefully that will fix the problem. Unfortunately, mother nature isnt cooperating much.

No racing this weekend.......

Riley, they had a radar gun last weekend (I had to work) and set the cones at 660'. The gun was setup at the end of the cones.
ZRT: 103 mph
T-cat: 103 mph
