is there a setting i can go by to adjust the oil injector?i just purchased the sled and put 10 miles on and noticed it smokes like crazy.he gave me a gallon of bombardier oil with it that i would like to use up then i will most likely go with synthetic. thanks mike

The recommended setting has the line on the oil pump lever lining up with the line on oil pump casting when throttle is pressed just enough to take free play out. A better way to check is to top up both gas and oil tanks; ride for a day and top up both tanks again. Then divide the amount of gas used by the amount of oil used. Shoot for 50:1. You must have the amounts of gas and oil in the same units of measurement eg;ounces versus ounces or litres versus litres.

You also should make sure that all the slack is taken out of the throttle cables so they open together (synchronized) with the oil pump. This is done by turning the cable adjusters on top of the carbs. make sure that the carbs open together and that the oil pump comes off the idle datum (line) with the carbs. Mine was adjusted so the throttles open after the oil pump which set the whole oil shedule off (rich). Don't forget to do the pinch nuts up on all three cables when you are done.
You should get about 3 tanks of gas to one 2.3 litre oil tank. Which is about 300 miles of running. You will not get one set ratio because oil mixture is based on throttle position with it being roughly 100:1 at idle and 20:1 at full throttle so your average oil ratio will be determined by riding style and trails ridden. Riding lots of lakes wide open will bring you closer to 20:1.
Mine was burning one tank of oil in about 150 miles which is too rich on oil. Since I did this I get 300-400 miles on a tank. Beware some off the newer sleds have a larger oil tank (4L I think)!

sidesaddle is right on the money.I have had to synchronize the pump with the carbs on lots of ski-doo sleds. Its usually the first thing I look for when someone complains of high oil consumption.Just the regular ski-doo oil works great and I wouldn't pay the extra money for the synthetic.

Thanks oldyeller, I run exclusively with the ski-doo mineral oil. My last sled still ran it's original radar speed after 12,000Km running only ski-doo mineral Oil (aparently it's castrol!?) with no engine work! I think that the pumps are calibrated for it's specific viscosity ... in any event it can't hurt!
