was wondering what my mxz8x should be revving at??...had it on the lake yesterday and it was 100mph at 7600 rpms, shouldnt this be revving to about 7800-8000 rpms????....my clickers are at 3.
i installed a new belt and it was slower than the used one(1200 miles on belt)like i said i was only getting 95-100 mph with the new belt and i was getting consistent 105s with my old belt.....any suggestions?????besides putting the old belt back on........should i turn up my clickers to 4?

I would turn up the clickers until you pull 8000 on the tach.
Also you could check your belt deflection, I just put a new belt on my wife's sled and the deflection was off with the new one.

I just posted as my first post he same problem.
My mxz700 2k should run at 7800 rpms.
I have fluctuation between 7400-7500 sometimes.
Is it inconsistent?
Can you let go of the gas then hammer on it again and make it climb up to 7800??
Excuse my ignorance but,...... what are clickers??
HTH
TIA

First of all, I assume you are both clutched as stock. If so, you should get 7800-8000 rpm on the tach in clicker 3. If you aren't there is something wrong that should be looked at. When was the last time you cleaned your clutches? Maybe you have worn buttons in the secondary.
Daveyboy, make sure your RAVE valves are not sticking. This would take away top rpms.
Anyway, the point is, with stock clutching, it should run between 7800 and 8000 in clicker 3. Just moving the clicker is a band-aid..fix it properly--at least for peace of mind.

Daveyboy...the clickers are an adjustment to your clutch, which is called the TRA. It allows you to change your top rpms, 200rpm per level. If you look on your clutch, you will see 3 bolts with numbers around them. These are the clickers. But don't touch them ;) until you start clutching and tuning outside of stock.

Daveyboy, Here is something I chased on my 2000 700 for almost half a season. Sled would pull correct rpms and then on occaision would only pull around 7500 to 7600 for the rest of the ride. Turned out there was a bad batch of NGK plug boots on the 2000's that would get a carbon buildup inside of the boot and cause a weak intermittent spark. I put on new boots and it pulled 8 grand all day long from that day forward. If you look up inside your boots and see a lot of black and little to no shining silver metal you have bad boots. Don't try to clean. Just replace them and you will be set.

very good possibility your clutch springs sacked out, on 700 and 800s I replace them every year to get consistant results, thier cheap and easy to replace as your cleaning your clutches

if you lost top rpm check your rave valves they may be stuck with carbon.....i just had the same problem with my sled .i took the raves out and one was stuck and i had just cleaned them 700 miles before..i think i fixed the problem one of the raves was touching the cylinder cage and was causing the rave to not operate properly.
