I am considering buying eaither sled and was wondring what you peeps tought about it, anyway the one is a 1999 mx-z 600 with 96 studs and hte other is a 1999 formula z 670 with 192 studs. both sleds have about 2500 miles and are both $3500 a piece. I weigh about 140 and am 5'5" and like to ride hard mostly but occassialy go slow for a change, was wondering if any know problems with eiather sled?

My wife had the 1999 600 and she loved it. It would go any place that I went. I had the 1999 670 ! The 600 is a nice smooth accelerating machine and fast. The 670 was very stappy out of the hole and very quick response. The thing would stand almost straight up on a quick take off. In powder and hill climbing I found that the 670 would did a hole in a hart beat if you did not fether the throttle. Both of the machines were stock with no modifications. hope this helps They were both very dependable and good machines. My preference know would be the mxz 600. both also had 136 track

get the MXZ they are excellent I had one and didnt have one problem in 4000 miles.(except when I broke both rear torsion springs in half, but I weigh 230 without gear and was going 70mph standing up and hit one of those bumps that if your setting down feel like you just broke your back.)

only problem Ive heard of with them is piston scuffing, and there may have been a bulletin or two just make sure those were done. One of them was a ignition wire too close to the flywheel, maybe that was the only maybe the piston deal Not sure. Ive heard alot of people saying they had the scuffing problem but noone that said their sled was junk, trashed, or seized up or anything.

There both nice sleds, there is not that much chassie difference, but I assume the FZ has the arm suspension which has proven to not be as rugged as the sc 10...... but it rides great.......

anyway for me I'll take the grunt of the 670 over the 600!
just my 2 cents

I have a '99 MXZ 600 with 2600 miles and it has been a great sled for me, no complaints at all. $3500 seems like a pretty high price for it though. See if you can talk them down a bit and then use your savings for more studs in the track which I would recommend. I don't think 96 is enough for that sled, 120 is recommended, I have 144. Hope this was of some help, good luck.
