I'm new here and my search didn't turn up too much.
Any Pantera 1000 drivers out there? Dave.

I ride a ZR580. Do you like the Pantera? My cousin just bought one, but hasn't really had a chance to ride it. We have a lack of snow here in Minnesota.

My father in law had one and got rid of it last year. He couldn't keep a crank in it. I think he went through 2 or 3 of them. He probably spent $1000 in belts before he got rid of it. Nice sled, but man what a lemon. I've heard of one other person with the same problem on that sled.

:) To hp for trail riding??? did not know that was possible.. :)
regarding the 580 I heard they have pistion problems. usualy about 2500 to 3000 miles. did not know of the crank problems on the 1000 was going to buy a 1000 even had a deposit on a 580 kind of glad I settled for my 550. it is a good riding sled I rode a week in canada and had np keeping up on the trails with 3 polaris trail sleds a 600 cat triple touring and a polaris touring. of course if you want to keep up you will have to learn how to throw a big cat around the twistys.. on the straights I was the slowest they are a handful but can be ridden very aggressivly. and watch out for the ski lift. I do wish on the straights and lakes I had the 1000 but on the trails the 550 does good enough. IMO the big cats give you the better ride. of course I will retire the cat to my wife when I get the next one.

Interesting and somewhat scary feedback on the big Pantera!
Anyone else got some experience, good and/or bad, with this machine?
As far as the engine...anybody else having problems and why only the Pantera? Why not the Thundercats that have got the same engine?
I'm not debating I'm just asking and absorbing because I've gots lots to learn. Your answers may generate a few more questions if you can stand it. Thanks, Dave.
