: Jerking Motion At Slow Speeds

I own a 97 cougar it has one hell of a jerking notion at slow speeds.I ripped my hole suspention out and found nothing the clutches are fine bearings good.the only thing i can think of is my belt is a little worn but could that really cause that much of a skipping feeling.(the chaincase i took apart and also found nothing wrong in there) any help would be much appreciated. THANX THIS IS MY FIRST TOPIC STARTER I'AM NEW TO THE POST. FROM MAINE AND WE HAVE SNOW!!!! :0:

this happen to me last weekend after hard speed run, take a good look a the drive belt for a chunk taken out of it

You can burn a belt and not even know it................My vote is for the belt

hmmm... well if there is no noticeable wear on the belt i would take a look at your clutch weights.... i borrowed a machine this weekend and at slow speeds to jerked forward consistently... it wasnt that hard of a motion but it was enought to notice.... anyway i totok a look at the clutch and te weights were all out of line... dealer said this can cause it..... good luck

Sounds like a drive belt to me. Let us now what you find out!

I WILL INFORM YOU GUYS TONIGHT ON WHAT I FIND OUT.APPRICIATE ALL THE HELP.FIRST DAY ON THIS FORUM AND I CAN TELL ALREADY MY SLED WILL RUN BETTER,JUST FROM HEARING DIFFERENT ASPECTS.

yup sounds like a burnt belt, pretty common deal
