I have the updated recoil that I had swapped out for the old one on my sled. The one with the aluminum plate over the center post. My recoil failed yesterday, the center post melted after the aluminum plate broke off. I told my dealer this and they informed me that Doo has another newer updated version different than what we got this past fall. I did not ask what was different but I will be receiving the lastest updated recoil on warranty. My dealer ordered it today. Here is what happened.

Did that happen with the stock exhaust? or do you have a can

It happened with the stosk exhaust. I also have the extra heat shield on the back side of the muffler which was done when the recoil was replaced.
