I had a '99 Formula III and just prior to completely coming undone up it had a small tapping noise that was hardly noticable, but I could hear it. It still ran like a million bucks. Started out fouling the same plug every few miles then it came apart. It would have cost me $1800 to get it fixed. I parted it out and got a mxz twin. Much better sled! I'll never get a triple again.

When my brother's F-III went he said it had a little vibration so he slowed down and stopped to see if it was in the drive train or the engine. The vibration continued once he stopped and got worse when he revved it up.It also started to sqeal a little bit so he shut it off.Pto bearing was toast.

My buddy's '00 700 MXZ lost the mag side a week ago. He was riding in a field covered with about 14 inches of powder, after about a 20 mile ride, and it simply lost power. He got to the edge of the field before it quit. He tried to pull it through, and discovered it was siezed. He had no prior indication that there were any problems with his sled, in fact as a former Cat owner he was impressed with the low fuel and oil consumption.
