This has been talked about for a long time.

Bombardier needs the money to bail out of that crappy Airplane devision ever since 9-11.

At first they were talking about making it its own company. Called Bombardier Recreational instead of Bombardier International so that they could seperate it.

But in later news the province of Qubec said that they would give bombardier the money to help them with the airplane division so the recreational devision wasnt going anywhere.

So its sounds like your reading old news. Bombardiers REC devision is healty and probably one of the strongest in the company. Now they bought or made a huge deal with john deer and plan to make sleds for them or some crap.

I cant find a shred of info about them selling it so please post.

Otherwise im going to have to take out a lone. :D

TELLIER NEW BOSS AT BOMBARDIER
Will Ski-Doo remain a core asset?

In an unexpected leadership shuffle at Canada’s two transportation giants, Paul Tellier of Canadian National Railway Co. is taking over as head of Bombardier Inc., with Robert Brown, the current CEO, leaving immediately.

According to this report in the Toronto Star, Tellier was frank about Bombardier’s less-than-stellar performance recently. “Let’s face it,” Tellier said in a conference call, “it has gone through challenging times and the status quo is not acceptable to shareholders. Bombardier needs to be re-energized.”

The Star also observed, “Bombardier’s 80,000 employees worldwide might be worried what the new year will bring. Tellier has a reputation at CN as a cold-hearted job slasher and doesn’t stick with managers who don’t carry their weight.”

Time magazine writer, Eric Reguly, recently wrote, “Back in 1992 when Tellier took over the bloated, federal make-work project called Canadian National... his first act was to eliminate 11,000 of the company’s 37,000 jobs and ditch non-core businesses.” Reguly speculates, “Might Bombardier go along a similar route? Each of the company’s four main business lines, Śoffers different products and services, requires different technology and marketing strategies and is headed by a president and chief executive officer. Complicated? You bet. Inefficient? Probably. A great Tellier focusing opportunity? Count on it.”

Previous CEO Robert Brown had already sold off the company’s financing unit, Bombardier Capital, which had sales of $967 million in 2001.

The other three units that make up Bombardier are Bombardier Aerospace with annual sales of $12 billion; Bombardier Transportation with annual sales of $7 billion and Bombardier Recreational Products with annual sales of $2 billion.

Bombardier’s recreational products division manufactures Ski-Doos, Sea-Doos and Bombardier ATVs, boats and outboard engines and utility vehicles like snow groomers. The division acquired the assets of bankrupt OMC/Evinrude and Johnson in 2001.

It is hard to imagine Tellier cutting loose Bombardier’s Recreational Products division, considering it is what started the company in the first place. So the question remains, will Ski-Doo remain a core-business asset of Canada’s largest manufacturing company? Only time and Tellier will tell!

Acually after doing some research im almost sure your reading old news.

Even the Airplane devision is looking up becasue they got some new contract and they got a 394million dollar contract to build trains.

And latest news and press releses all point to having future plans. Such as evinrude and that new engine, The venture with John Deere.

Well even if they are selling im not going to get upset over somthing i cant control. What ever happens happens.

However After reading that arcticle Mighty im 99% sure Bomb Rec isnt going anywhere. Bombardier REC looks good for shareholders, its what got them started. Its history.

However if they are loosing money, its becasue there cutting loose the Mach. :D

What's this making sleds for john deere all about?? That is one company that could afford the expense of making a good sled without it costing $15,000 unlike Fast and Redline.

If JD came out with a sled I'd have one ordered in no time!! The service for those sleds would be great with all the dealers around and parts they carry!

JD, you can always look around for the old classic, the John Deere Liguifire! Fast sled in its day (late 70's early 80's). I believe the mill was made by Kawasaki (from their invader, another real hot sled from the same era). Oh for the old days of leaf spring front ends and slide rail suspensions (when men were men and their was more sled manufacturers than models)!
