Oil Line Bleeding

I'm replacing a damaged oil injection check valve on my mach z. To do so I will obviously be removing the small oil line that runs from the oil pump to the check valve (which threads into case and injects oil into crankcase). Will I need to bleed the line once it is attached to the replaced check valve? My understanding is that the bleeding is only necessary between the oil tank and the oil pump.

You are correct when you say between the oil tank and pump, not nessaery after that.

How did you know the check valve was bad? I usually add some oil to the first tank and let the machine idle for a few minutes with the pump arm held wide open.

The piston broke up pretty bad and beat up the tip of the check valve. It probably still works but it should protrude into the case about 1/8" inch but it is currently flush with the case. For $18 I'd rather just replace it and forget about it.

I'd just hold the pump arm wide open for a minute when you first start it up.If you can't get to it with your hand you can probably use a peice of wire with a hook bent on the end.

You can hold the pump leaver wide open until hell freezes over and it will not bleed the tank to pump. Holding it wide open to get the oil from the pump to the engine will however.
There is a small hex head bolt in the middle of the pump, loosen it with the engine off until all air is expelled, re-tighten.

Yes I meant hold the pump arm after you bleed the tank to pump, just to make sure the engine gets the oil quickly.
