Im going to buy a new sled next season and I want to know if skidoo finally got the 800 straightened out. I have been holding off for 2 years now becauce the 800s have been poor performers and not so good in the durability department. I really like the rev but if the 800s still the same old same old Ill buy a proxr 800. I dont care about brand loyalty crap, I want the facts.

In my opinion the Cat 800 is the most durable...But I think it might be cut for 04??

I dont have one, but from what Ive been reading on here, they are having problems with them still a little bit. The crankcase seals are blowing out of them. This is just what Ive been reading though.

In 2003 my buddy bought a 02' MXZ 800. I rode it and wasn't impressed. I rode the 03' Rev 800 amd that motor flat out runs. Ordering 04' Rev this year.....Looks like its going to be the 800 H.O....I was looking forward to the 800 SDI but doesnt look like Doo is going to offer it.

i was at some drags a few weeks ago and the 800 revs just flat out sucked.they lost from everything from edge x 700 and 800's to f7 and zr 800's.they even lost to a viper.the rev chassis is sweet but for flat out perfromance i would go woth the pro-xr.doo's 800 has had a lot of issues from day 1 and i think the yneed to start from square 1 and start over.i ride with some 700 and 800 doo's and they also get terrible fuel milage

My experiances and opinion are (my REV X is my first 800 sized machine). I think its real fast and have had zero issues with the engine at just under 2000kms. It also gets the same milage as some buddies ZX chassied 600, XC 600 and even a ZR 500... pretty impressive to me! The chassis is second to none as you know I am sure.

Depends on your riding.
I ride 95% trails and 5% lakes on my '03 DPM REV 800.
3200kms so far. I have logged 4 days each over 400km running Parry Sound to Sudbury, North Bay, Quebec and back to Parry Sound with nothing more than a sore throttle thumb and brake hand.
Try that on any other machine out there.
For trail riding, in bone stock production form you can't touch it this year.

Forget these guys that saw and listen to the guys that own, ride and log respectable kms (and speak English).

This is my 3rd 800 since '01 and not one of them even flinched.

Problems with the 800's? I think your looking for the CAT forum. The SKi Doo 800's don't have problems, only one im aware of is the older Mach Z's(under 2000) had crank problems. But those are resolved already. The MXZ 800's in my opinion are sluggish stock, you need a clutch and a full day of dialing it in.A Mach Z on the other hand...........makes me horny :D

I've never ridden Ski-Doo in the past, but 2 weeks ago I got the Blair morgan REV and let me tell you, that motor rips!!!!! If there were problems with the 800 in the past Doo definetly worked them out. Stock for stock the 7c REV beat a ZR 900 5 times in a row!!!! If that's not proof I don't know what is.

tb2, I OWN an '03 800 H.O. Summit. I have 1100 powder miles on it and I can say that it is a very reliable engine so far. I changed the dpm when it was new to fix a carburation problem but that is the only thing wrong. My buddy OWNS an '02 Summit and since the updates were done on it he hasn't had a bit of trouble with it. Make sure that when you get opinions on a sled or motor that you are not getting it from people that have just "heard things" By the way, I am not brand loyal. I have owned all of the major manufacturers sleds and this new 800 H.O. is really put together well.

i ride a zr 800 2002. 2800 miles on it and no problems. my 2 buddy have a 2002 xc 800 and a 2003 xc 800. no problems with there's. nobody in this area is happy with there doo 800's, i even here that the rev is not performing like it should. if u dont care about loyalty. go with a cat or polaris.

Hey...What he said....I own two 03 800HO Summits 151 track and love it. Only problem was the guages foging and Doo has a replacement fix coming.. Should have it this week. :inlove: Awsome sled in the powder and hills as well as trail riding. Hit 110 MPH then chickened out. Also get around 120 miles per tank. :inlove:

tree of my buddies all own 2002's xc,zr,mxz. On the lake the zr wins second the mxz and the xc gets creamed bad all the sleds are stock,I clutched my buddies mxz 700 and it will beat all three.

01 800 w/ 6000 miles , 5000 the first year and 02 800 w/ 3800 miles both are bullet proof my 01 would run 110 all day and my 02 will run to 112 hard and top out around 118 on the speedo, never found another sled that will run even close .both completely stock, except for clutching.

The fastest I have had my REV (which also has been the fastest I have ever gone on a sled) was an indicated 180kph and it still might have gone a bit more but I had to slow down. We rarely ride lakes/rivers so top speed isnt a big deal. Lots of ditch bashing and trail riding thru forests and such. The acceleration is awesome and the handleing is unreal... thats where all the "fun factor" if for me anyway.
