I read some previous post on gas gage problems and some people talked about a little wire that comes undone on the gage. I checked mine and it was fine. I am getting voltage out of the sending unit arround 5.xx and arround the same numbers right at the gage so is it the gage on the dash and not the sending unit. What are the values I am suposed to get out of the gage.

I just fixed mine. I was not getting any resistance between the two wires. The resistor and wiper arm were varnished. Cleaned it up with some carb cleaner and crocus cloth. Now it works great.

Had a friend of mine that had the same problem, his had a broken wire in the sending unit. The wire looked fine, but it was broken at the resistor. I don't remember the values I got, but they changed as the float traveled its distance.

There is a small fuse under the seat take it out and check it, then clean the brass ends ,where the fuse was .
