Well I was out playing and decided to take a look at my belt, I noticed that 1 of the lugs was ripped right off. Anyways if you can remember I had problems of finding a belt that would fit right on my cougar and the belt I ruinned was the only one that worked good. The other belts i got act as if they are too wide and don't engage causing the track to keep spinning while idleing. Will it do damage to the bearing if I run these belts and if it does what can I do???

You should pull the clutches and have them looked at to find out why they're grabbing the belt.

If you've checked all your specs and they seem good, you must have a mechanical problem with one. I assume that you checked offset, center-to-center, parallelism, deflection and belt ride height in secondary.

Ok... some belts for a sled are made different sizes! So... with every belt change you have to adjust the secondary to suit! This involes either adding a shim or removing one!
If it is the torque sensing or the newer Cat roller clutch, you can take the outer ring off... remove the helix and outer sheath. All this can be done on the sled!!
Now depending on what the belt looked like on the secondary, it should be about 1/8" above the secondary. If it is too low, remove one shim... tighten it up some. If it's to high... add a shim. They can be purchased at any Cat dealer and there is arange of thickness.
Also... you may want to pick up an alignment tool. It comes in handy to make sure things are nice and straight!
Now, if it's like mine... an internal helix... oh what a pain!! Take it to the dealer!
Get a service manual too... tells you how to do all this stuff!

Ok... look at #11
Those are the shims!!
Make sure that there is some play in the secondary too(in and out movement... smoothly, no binding). Have you removed it and lubed the cross shaft? If not... do this!

Well, your sled calls for a 0227-103 A/C drive belt, but don't buy that one. Buy a 0627-001, 0627-002 or a 0627-006 which is a "High Perf. Belt" and all have the same spec. as the 0227-103.

Thanks everyone. I bought a 0227-103 belt and it didn't work so I'll try one of the other sizes. My brother is gonna come up today and take a look at my clutches and see if anything can be done with them.

My brother just left and he said the clutches were in gret shape and still looked new. He fiqured that the secondary was out of align so Im gonna pick a couple of shims. I also put on some new buttons.
