Whats up fellow T-Cat owners,
I just wanted to see who the Big Cat riders are,and what mods have you done to your T-Cat.
I'm in the process of buying a lighter,better handling sled (F7,ZR900,or REV800),BUT I will never sell my T-Cat,I just can't part with that ski's up,hard pulling,big top ending,hell of a sled.
:inlove:

Were here! I guess there aren't too many of us left!

My 2000 T-Cat doesn't have too many mods, just Vforce3 reeds, a Black Magic clutch kit (incredible shifting) and thats about it. I have tried fooling around with some gearing for top end with not too much success.

Just wondering how far down do you get your speedo on top end? On best conditions I get mine to exactly 6 oclock. :D :D

I have a picture in view my images. :) :)

Just got back in from a trip to the UP with mine--'94 T-cat. I loved the power and ride--just need a touch stiffer springs and I'm set. The one disappointing thing I found was that I only got 6 MPG. I was always looking for the next gas station. What are your guys MPG's for trail riding?

I have a cleared airbox, heart throb clutch kit and 240 studs with 8" carbides up front. The sled is a rocket with me on it -- all 350 lbs of me that is ..... and saying that is a major accomplishment. I think that I need to go with heavier weights to try to take my running rpms down and get some better gas mileage. It seems that to maintain 55 mph I have my rpms at about 7000 -- that seems high to me for cruising at 55mph. Hopefully if I can get my rpms lower then the MPH will go up and then I can have my cake and eat it too. Also I noticed that my belt doesn't seem to go to the top 1/2 inch of the primary clutch so that makes me think I need a heavier weight--what are your opinions?

Thanks,

Tony

TonyB,
Not having the clutches shifting all the way is a complicated issue, so I am finding out, check out this Post (http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=17894&st=0&hl=)

I get bad mileage when it is warm out, we have quite different sleds as far as carbs are concerned so I can't really give advice on jetting.

My sled is at 6000 rpm on hardpack at 60 mph although I have not checked it lately with all of my clutching I have been doing.

It was pointed out to me that if the drive clutch is not shifting all the way out then neither is the driven so a softer spring in the driven should do the same thing, I think.
Clutching drives me nuts! ??? ???

When I got this baby pinned to the bar I don't ever look down at that useless speedo, maybe I'll get that Black Magic 160 mph speedo this year.

I added a TourBuddy auxillary fuel tank to my T-Cat and that was a real life saver on those long rides, it gives me an extra 2.3 gallons of petrol.

2000 TCat, 192 Power Points, Power Breather, V Force 3, Tempa-Flow, 3° timing key, Black Magic clutch kit and ZRT 600 Graphics. With over 6000 miles on it I'm going to check the compression since my buddies '01 with just a clutch busted my a$$ last weekend. The current clutch setup only spins to 8000 rpm, but the primary doesn't want to come off (bent 2 pullers) and I don't like the idea of torching it until the season is over, with my luck the main seal will fry. So for next year it'll have new rings, a properly tuned clutch and possibly pipes from Simons CPR.

Hello fello t-cat riders,
Saw this string and thought I would add some of my experiences with the big cat. I bought a 2000 in 2001 ,new in the crate. Picked her up for less than dealer cost from a shop that was sitting on a couple in mid August.
I knew a guy who had a Land & Sea dyno and thought I would see what she had for hp before I did any mods.
I broke her in for 10 miles on the jack stand and brought it to the dyno guy.
This is December at this point. Right out of the box she pulled 161hp. Which he said was about normal.
He doesn't belive in the $100 power breather. He said you can get the same results just by removing all the foam from the air box and by making the opening in back bigger. Which we did.We also added a set of v-force reeds. with these changes we went up one size on the mains to be safe.
she pulled 171hp and looked a little rich. Went back down to stock jet size and pulled 177hp with 112ftlbs of torque at 8350 rpm.

This was the easy part. Figuring out the clutching took a summer on the asphalt.
I'll get to that story tomarrow.

2002 T-Cat and as listed below it is all stock.

Except for Clutching, Airbox, Gearing, silencer, timing key, 1.4" track, and digatron on the dash.

As far as speed the big unit will easily pull 100 on the speedo. Pulls the needle to "6:00" with little trouble as well.

Looking for a replacement for the wife though, sold her Yamaha. Now convincing her that her next unit should be a FireCat F7 EFI. Figure the weight advantage would be good for her, and the sled would be good for me when doing trail riding only with the boys.

The Thunder will never leave my garage.
