I am from Nashville, Tennessee but have family in Illinois and we went to the Western U.P. in Michigan (Bergland). I took the pictures on 1/17/02 through the 1/19/02. They had some great lake effect snow off of Lake Superior.

Wishing for more snow and hoping for a return at the end of February!!!!!

Those were all on the west end of the state. Those pics brought back some great memories. I can't wait to do it again. Haven't been in about 5 yrs. Thats some beautiful riding on that side over there. Was the one pic of you on the side of the trail with a hand rail in the photo, was that the hand rail to that abondoned mine or what ever on your way to lake of the clouds.? http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Great pics, Me and my wife were just there yesterday.
It was my wifes first ride and she just loved the trails.
We started out at Wakefield, to Bergland, up to lake of the clouds. Had lunch at Hoop "n Hollar. Took the ice, as alot of riders are riding on Lake gogibic now. Some slush on the south side. North side from hoot"n hollar to Bergland was good. *We rode Thurs, 1/24/02.
Plan on going back and head more north east.
Next time I will have to take my camera. http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Pics of the hand rails looked like one of the three that are between Mass City and Toivola. What a great area! Hope the snow stays. http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hey Liquid, *I just got back from the U.P. Wed. We didn't get over to the Porcupine's, hopefully next year. We stayed in Michigamme. Went up by Big Bay one day and over towards Bruce Crossings and up by Houghton/Twin Lakes/ Baraga the other two days. We had a great time, put on 615 miles. I don't have a scanner of digital cam., so I can't post pics (there not as good as being there anyway http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ) Anybody heading up that way, I would recommend making the 310 Loop up by Big Bay. The frozen waterfalls were cool, and we saw three moose. Well I've babbled enough. Later, Butch.

PS- if anybody saw seven guys(idiots)with black bear hats on.....that was us.

By chance where is the 310 route at? Is that above Twin lakes? Would love to see the falls!!!

Do you know what the snow conditions are at the end of February?

The 310 loop is up by Big Bay. NW of Marquette. Off of trail 5. If you happen to get up there, I would recommend eating at the Thunder Bay Inn (great food). I'm not sure on the conditions near the end of Feb. This was my first time that far west. But we plan to go back to the same place next year. If you don't have a place to stay, we stayed at the Maple Ridge Resort in Michigamme. Sherri and Randy were a great help on which trails to take and see the scenery. They seem to know the area real well. They have a web site if you're interested in checking it out.

liquid600, I saw a commercial on TV last night for Mrs Cleo, and she looked into her crystal ball and she said the snow conditions at the end of February will be great. *10 feet of powder, at least. *Then she charged me $50. * http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
