Frostbit 03-04-2003, 08:00 PM Sweet! You dropped the nose perfectly to the bank. I'd say you've done that a couple times. :D
hey thats better. u r crazy. i just downloaded my second slednecks video today. i say the whole bunch of u r crazy. i wish i had the money to not care if i recked my ride. then i may have the gutts to try and work my way up to 140 foot jump
alscool 03-04-2003, 08:23 PM Completely Excellent!, nice job on the video as well :D
DAVE7625 03-04-2003, 08:37 PM Thanks for the complements everyone!
Thanks webmaster for uploading it here, i have to admit it was slow over at hardcoresledder. They didnt even seem to care not many people even check it out anyway, but at least a few of you guys did on here, thanks!
Beerman,
I wish i could get on slednecks some day, if i get good enough footage this winter in gonna send them some stuff and see what happens. But the environment where I live kinda limits me to what i could do but if i was able to ride where they film there videos i would defatley go bigger and do new things. If kennypope checks this out he would second what i said because he was the one that told me the environment holds me back.
Frostbit,
When you jump a lot you know when to tap your brake to level out right with the hill, when you jump often enough it just becomes natural.
DAVE7625 03-04-2003, 10:17 PM here is a mid jump screen shot courtesy of slider79 on firecat.info forums, thanks slider! this is just a pic so the people who want to see the video will get an idea of what the scenery is like.
picture is removed for a couple days, i will post it back once things get sorted out.
gregrobbins 03-04-2003, 10:45 PM Very nice but and there's always a but. This may sound like a stupid question but in distance jumping doesn't the distance have to be on level ground? That was an outstanding show , you must have to tug on those bars pretty hard to get height on such a short ramp. Again OUTSTANDING . Have you seen the clip where some guy does the summersault with the Ski-Doo , thats pretty freaky too and yours rank right up there.
Xtreme Racing Team 03-04-2003, 11:05 PM Thats pretty cool, thats a nice downhill landing you have there.
kennypope 03-05-2003, 12:17 AM Nice job Dave, hopfully I will see it in real life when you go even bigger!!

Dave,
I can't see the video due to firewall here at work... I will have to check it out in the morning when I stop by my father in laws to fix his pc.. He has cable modem :D My dial up at home sucks.. Looks like a perfect place to jump with the fall away landing it definately makes for a smoother landing.
BTW, I have flown a lot farther on a bike but NOT on purpose ... I left the road at 142mph on my 1983 Kawasaki GPZ 1100 We paced off over 250 ft before the bike touched down and another 200 or so before it came to rest! The bike was 3 months old, it cost me $5000.00 and some change back in 83.. I took my eyes off the road for a split second (had to see how fast I was going) next I was flying thru the air.. I told my friends where it happened and they could not find the bike that night.. they had to go back the next day.. I had a broken wrist, internal bleeding and could not walk for a week! The fact that it rained all day probably saved my life, as the field was pretty wet and soft that night.
Check out the bike
jwheeler 03-05-2003, 07:53 AM very nice job man.
gregrobbins 03-05-2003, 08:02 AM Hey Evel I don't mean to sound like a spoiledsport but 142 mph on a public road? Don't you have kids? Thats pushing it a little far don't you think? But I guess we were all a little young and foolish at some time in our life. You were very lucky. My friend, God rest his soul, left the road at approx 100mph , he didn't make it. Weird thing is the bike got hardly any damage at all. Funny how life is sometimes. Hope you and you buddies learned something from that . Happy trails.

For distance jumping it is flat distance jump, but i was just telling you the length of the jump. The record right now is 211 feet but he did land on a downhill also, check slednecks 4 for footage.
And i know its hard to belive it go that far off my small ramp, im gonna stack them up another 3 feet and move them back so i can get some big air!

I was 23 at the time and yes very crazy and not so smart.. That bike would do 153 mph top speed by radar not the speedo.. I survived a few other crazy crashes on bikes and in cars.. I am now 43 and have been on my 01 Mach Z going on my third year and have not even scratched it so I guess I have mellowed a bit :D I also sold all my bikes last year due to this $$&**(%##&^&*& damn expensive sport called snowmobiling.. You can check out my sleds and pics of some bikes I used to own here: http://groups.msn.com/Evelsstuff/shoebox.msnw
Chers,
Evel
Sorry about the loss of your friend.. And yes I agree about your statement.. My Dad's best friend hit a tree with a car when they were kids and it hardly put a dent in the car and yet he died instantly :(
DAVE7625 03-05-2003, 09:56 PM Evel,
I am surpired you walked away from that crash, your very lucky! I rarly look down at my gauge when im drivng fast i alway look at what im going and not down at the dash. I am actually surprised on that no one asked me how fast i was going when i hit the ramps, but i dont even check i just go what feel right. Once you jump a lot you get to know how fast you should go, its weird i havent cased any roads or anything i have always went past them and not over shot them either, good estimatiing i guess!

kennypope 03-05-2003, 11:11 PM Piped Bravo, my brother is doing ok, considering. By the way my buddy with the rx1 ran pretty strong we didn't get much of a hole shot on him and he would creep by on top end, but still held him off for much of a 1000 ft. My buddy's Blair smoked us all big time, came out of the hole together then he just started pullin, after 1000 ft. he was at least 5-6 lengths ahead. What a rocket!

Yes, if any one jumps you know flat landing suck. They hurt you and damage your sled. Its not worth it. Downhill landings are much better and smooter, jumping with a downhill is fun, flat landings are not.

So what's the story behind this "mystery"?????? Two days have long gone by!!!
OK sorry about that. No one was posting that they wanted tp know untill you so i didnt bother.
Anyway, i brought my sled into he dealer for warrant work and they told me they could not warrantee my sled because i abuse it. They told me the firecat or snopro firecat is not made for jumping. But they market it as an agressive bump sled am i right? and on there commercial it shows their sleds flying through the air and then the dealer tell me its not ment to leave the ground? what a bunch of bull####. I mentioned this to the dealer howcat actually showes their sleds jumping on their own commercial when he said they arent made for it, but he told me not to give him attitude. I was very angry.
They told me that with my jumping on the internet cat sees it and can shut them down if they do any warantee work on my sled, which is kinda stupid because they have no proof it is me! and have no prrof what sled it is by vin number or anything. The video could have taken place anywhere at any time and there is no real proof that it is me you do not see my insureacne plates or anything all you see if a green sled jumping and watercrossing or whatever.
And really if people seen me jumping my sled like that with no suspesnion damage or anything its basically selling cat sleds because it shows them how strong they are! and people will want to by them because they stand up to what i give them. The only problem i have had was bent motor mounts, this can be linked to the jumping but they just need stronger ones.
Well anyway, i took the video off so they could not say i had stuff up on the net and i did get my sled warranteed so everything is good now, except my dealer they still give poor service and i would not reccomend them to anyone, some of the guys are nice but most of the time they are dumb.
I will talk to the webmaster to get the video back up so people can see it! maybe cat will sell some more firecats once more people see the video! :p I think cat should make me a factory tester! :p I would make the products much better because i would put them through rough testing then the average rider would not have problems with them. But even how i ride only bent and broken motor mounts arent bad. and well my tunnel has little cracks on each side because of how the tunnel is desinged but trail riders that dont jump have had this problem also.
TallCool1 04-05-2003, 02:48 PM Dave, I would be upset with them too. That's just pi$$ poor service from CAT AND the dealer. I can't believe they don't realize the publicity you give that sled, instead of focusing on the few hundred $$ it might cost them to warrant any of your repairs. Heck, you should be able to charge them advertising fees. And if they really don't expect anyone to jump with that sled, why do they give the suspension so much travel?! Good luck and hopefully the video will be back on soon.
machz69 04-05-2003, 03:39 PM lol..........thats pretty funny ..... what eles would you exspect from the town we are from....;)... when will you have the video back up? i have the same thing back in 1991 with my chev pick up. i had a 1 ton reg cab with a 454 and a 3speed and posi track. i asked them when i ordered the truck if i could lift the truck and they said it was built for it. so they said order the heavy duty 1 ton. so i did. i put a 4 inch lift and 36 super swampers. well that damn truck fell appart in the first 100km. front end fell appart steady! so i brought the truck in like every weak. they tell me warrenty void!! at 3000km. so i call general motors and the guy says they are not built for larger tires and the swampers are way to aggresive..lol..... he said the truck was not built for off road. i told him why do you show that in the comercials? nothing but mud. he tells me marketing nothing more. so we come to find out my frame had broken off at the motor mount. they then tell me the truck was not built for a 454 ,it was too heavy..lol. so i guess that was my fault also..they said the would weld it together. vertical and horizontal. i told him i dont think so. 42000 for a truck with 3000km .NOT!!. they would not change the frame so i took it to the ministry of transport and asked them what they thought....well holy crap the guy almost fell on his ###.....lol he put a yellow sticker on the winshield and said this truck is not moving. the frame could not be welded on. my dealer was pist he said we could have work it out.......lol. i stoped all payments on the truck and 3 months latter gmac took the truck back. and asked if i wanted any other of there product.lol.......no thankz. so dont feel bad dave there almost all the same in our little town with the big city attitude........hehehe
machz69 04-05-2003, 03:41 PM wow that was longer then i thought.......... ;) :D

I agree with everything you said. Why would they offer a snopro package if it wasnt meant to jump, or beter yet as i said before why would they advertise their sleds jumping on their own commercial?
Cat was actuallty the good guys about his because they told me that if i had any more problems to call them back and they would talk to the dealer personally, i wish they should have because i would rather have the dealer get shut down and have someone else take it over and do a better job, or hire some better emplyees and get the place running right with good service.
One time this winter i went to the dealer to get my new pipe because firecat f7's had problems with pipes cracking. First i called the dealer and asked if they had any pipes in that i could have, they said yes and told me to go and pick it up. So like warantee work is you give them your old part in exchange for the new one. I took my old pipe off and drove 25 minutes to the dealer and then they told me they couldnt give me the new pipe because my sled wasnt with me, which they failed to mention that i needed the sled there to get the new pipe. So they wanted me to drive all the way home and get my sled bring it there so they could put my pipe on. and its only a 2 mintue job to change the pipe anyway!!! :cussing:
Another one of my friends that bought a sled from there this winter needed a bunch of warantee work done to the sled and it sat outside for a week and all they changed was a chaincae bolt! so he took it to the nearest dealer 2 hours away and they did it for him! now thats good service. He didnt even buy they sled from them and they fixed the stuff right away. My cat dealer doesnt deserve to be in opperation. I wish someone would take arctic cat away from them and have someone else deal the sleds. I did them a favour of buying a sled from them, and they treat me like crap, its the last sled or anything i will buy from them again. I really like my firecat but i do not like the dealer, and this is swaying me into getting a rev next year from the good dealer that i have delt with for a long time! Its simple really if a store wants returning customers you would think they would be nice to you and give you good service, but not this cat dealer.

Well i can see you know where i am comming from. But you did mods to your truck and i did not change anything on my sled so there was no reason for them not to warantee my stuff because all the parts were OEM. It would have been if you drove your truck stock off road and somthing breaking them not doing it because its not made for it, but like you said on thei commercial all they do it go in the mud and stuff.
So, everything go worked on with the truck and you got your money back? I think its stupid when a dealer would give you bad service because they are loosing your business and other business when you tell your friends, it just hurts them. You would think they would be smarter and give you good serive and try their best to help you out. Example. I would reccomend mikeys to anyone, but would i reccomend people to buy a sled from bigway no i would not i would tell them to buy polaris at borques and cat in earlton or somwhere else but not here. Im sure brent would second me for that one. His sled sat at bigway for a week and all they changed was a chaincase bolt, so he had to bring his sled all the way to earlton to get stuff done to it. Its the dealer that suffers from lack of good service in the long run because they loose a lot of business.
