Nice pics :D I wouldnt say that the 03 500 ZX-x's are underpowered at all. I took one out that had .6 of a KM on it and put almost 100kliks on it and i cant believe the difference in power compared to the wifes 98 form 500. This thing flat out rocked.

I still don't see what the magazines were saying, this thing easily pulls up the skis with the suspension set at manual recomended settings and does 90-95 MPH pretty easily, all while getting 14-16 MPG.

Perma. The 98s felt like they had less power. But in a race the 98s were faster.

Neils 2000 500 with 6000km will lose by 2 sledlenghs to the 1998mxz 500 with 11000km on it.

We also beat a 2002 Forumla Deluxe 500 just the other day at Lake Moria.

The Old Rotary Valved 500s for some reason felt gutless, But they haul ###.

Still, by no means are any of the 500LC from any of the manufactors underpowered. Your talking just under 100hp.

No transfer block or limit strap tricks either. Everything is a normal trail settings for my 190lbs.

My last sled was a 98 formula 500, this MXZ is far faster than it was, take off and top end. The 98 did better "wheelies" though with the suspention not being coupled and the 96 studs.

I love my 01' mxz 500. It's got about 92hp and i find it great for all types of riding even in the deep stuff, a little slow but fun to throw around nun the less. My sled is about the same for top speed as my buddies 98 formula 500 but pulls harder on the bottom than his does. all in all i like it.

Gf's brother has a 99 MXZ 500, very quick trail sled while getting great mpg. What more could you ask for good top speed, snappy trail response, light weight, good fuel economy. Heck, I think 500s are great machines.
