i have 95 ext 580 efi, afteri put the 9 post the belt rides a half inch or more below in the secondary clutch!! do i need a new size belt??? thanks guys for the input!!

You need a new belt or less shims in the secondary clutch to bring the belt higher.

The position of the belt in the secondary at engagement gives you your "first" gear and should be flush or slightly above flush.

If your belt is worn that will affect shifting all the way through to top end. Shims only affect starting in "first" gear as once the clutch is engaged the shims are no longer a factor. :) :)

try a new belt it did get smoked let me know if you are going to ride this weekend

How did your old clutch's belt ride? Or was it low in the secondary too?

If not.
At rest the ride height should be about the same for both since the center diameter on comet and cat clutchs are the same.

It almost sounds like your 9 post primary isn't opening up completely.
