I had my fully broken in '02 MXZ 600 out on a cold lake last Sat night. Its still fully stock, no modifications to anything. I could only get a little over 90mph on it with the ice being smooth and no bad head wind. Shouldn't I be able to at least hit 100mph? The 2 Yami 700 triple Vipers I was with left me standing. Yes Im a big guy, 6'3' 260lbs but I was tucked in tight and had the trigger to the handle bar. I just got it back after its 250 mile check up and it seemed faster before cause last month I hit 90 mph on a trail no problem and it was still accelerating albeit slowly. Could the dealer have dumbed it down somehow during the check up? The throttle trigger definately seems tighter now, got a sore thumb after a full day of riding. What does a 600cc generally top out at?
Thanks

I hit 110mph ( on the speedo) on my 99 mxz600 several times.
What are your RPM"s at when she is pinned to the bar? They should be right at 8200 or 8000 ( depending if your tach is on or not) usually there off by a couple hundred.
Don;t take this personal but your weight will slow the machine down probably around 5 mph maybe a little more.

Yeah I know my size will slow it some. Sledding is still a great fat guy sport though lol! I don't remember the tach exactly when I was at 90 mph but it was in the neigborhood of 8 grand for sure. But I have rode with and seen bigger guys than me that can get 100mph out of similar size sleds. 90mph is plenty fast for me, I'm not much of a top ender. I just wanted to see what she would do and was a little dissapointed at 90mph only. I had a '99 AC 500 ZL EFI rental that did 96mph 3 years ago on a lake.

Something don't seem right here. I have the identical machine. I'm 6'6" and fully dressed up wiegh 269 lbs. I keep my sled turning up around 8200 rpm's for best results. Most days thats on clicker position 3 but some days i can lower it to clicker 2. First off I did lean mine out a bit even though i have DPM. I went down to 490 mains and took the washer out from under the e-clip and put it on top of the e-clip. This leaned it out a bit. On a good calm crisp day I have hit 104 mph with about 99-101 being average( on RADAR ). Since this is only a 600 and I do wiegh a bit snow condition and temp really play a big role. If the snow is a little tacky and temps are closer to 0 C or 32 F dont expect much over 92-93 mph. This is what I observed so far. A friend of mine has the identical sled and he dropped the 1 inch track for a CAT track ( .85 I think ) and he gained a few mph on top end. These sleds aren't real speed deamons out on the lakes but love the twisties in the trails and in the ditch.
