Can anyone explain to me what preloading or unloading frt. track shock spring does to sled,I know it affects ski pressure but can it be used to soften susp. at all. :withstupid:

From what I have tried, adjusting the preload on the front track shock does little on changing the overall ride quality.(as compared to adjusting the rear torsion springs) It has a greater affect on ski pressure. Running a stiff preload will also help add weight transfer for better traction. Stiff preload also helps skim over whoops, as it quickly passes lifting energy to the rear arm. Running softer preload will maximize cornering, and a much more comfortable ride at modest 30 50 mph speeds over bumps.

The amount of coupling used will control how much/little effect the front spring will have on ride. When fully coupled, you are compressing both springs. When not, as in having the rear RRSS removed, or in the back hole on low, the spring will have very little effect on ride. Normally it is used to control ski pressure.

When set up fairly stiff, it becomes a fulcrom for the machine to pivot on. Riding at night, with the front spring set kinda stiff, your headlights will be in the trees under acceleration, way down low in front of you when on brakes. Hardly fun on the trail, but great at the strip or out on a lake.

For trail, with an emphasis on handling, very little pre load is required.....
